Hello everyone!
Today has been another chilled day. We took a walk down to the ferry terminal this morning to enquire about a trip to the neighbouring islands. We met this extremely helpful young man called Mec - the manager of one of the tour companies. We ended up chatting to him for about an hour about Malaysian life, he gaves us some useful tips about the locals - apparently, if asked about our religious beliefs, we must declare ourselves devote Christians and speak of our love for God. The locals, apparently, are extremely offended if you admit to being an athiest. Mec also warned us about eating Mangos because this may increase our chances of catching Maleria and to avoid exposing our bellybuttons to the jellyfish when snorkelling otherwise we could suffer short, painful deaths due to our umbilical cords swelling and thus exploding inside of us! Very useful advice we thought. Mec also kindly invited us camping in his local area. He lives in a small village in the northern part of Sabah - such a nice guy! We're going White Water Rafting with his tour company on Thursday, he promised us the there was no risk of us drowning, just got to watch out for the crocodiles! Apparently if we fall out we've just got to float downstream on our backs with a smile on our faces and someone will fish us out, sounds fairly safe...i think, and Mec said Malaysian crocodiles are vegetarian!
We decided to dine alfresco this evening, thought we'd give Pizza Hut a miss and be a little more adventurous. We chose a lovely little cafe next door to Pizza Hut and had burger and chips!!! We were entertained throughout our exotic meal by a Malaysian band singing ABBA classics. Even better still, we had a Malaysian rendition of Billy Ray Cyrus 'achey breaky heart' - Malaysia is such a wonderful country, full of culture!
We're off to find some monkeys tomorrow so will hopefully update the site with lots of exciting photos.
Oh btw, if anyone has been trying to contact us on our mobile our network isn't working properly. Hopefully it'll be back up soon but if you need to contact us just drop us an email or leave us a message on this site. Cool.
Take care guys xxxx
