Please look below for my attempts at the entire last day of barcelona! Having nightmares with internet. I didn't mean to leave that horrible comment on it's own!
We have arrived in Madrid! Horrifyingly long journey, up at 6 to get the replacement bus and then the tube to get to the big bus which left at 8. It would be just our luck that the one time we don't stay at the drop off point we get the one off flaw in Spanish public transport. Although to be honest the line closure was very well organised, as ignorant tourists we were made aware in advance that our stop would be closed, and the buses were big and seemed ready to replace the tube which comes every 4 mins - this was only the first hour of service though so if it's anything like the British system it will have gone to pot by now..
The journey went well, the tour guide was rubbish, we had to stifle giggles as she told us about the 'flamingo', 'repolic' and 'Estadio Santiago Blublah' - meaning flamenco, republic and Estadio Santiago Bernabeú... She's Aussie so no real language barrier to blame that on!
We walked straight out into town to find a restaurant. It was lovely - we have voted and it has been the best meal yet, we had 6 variations of tapas including baked potato with parmesan, quails egg and ham and also deep fried tempura vegetables with yoghurt. Very happy bunnies after a long day. It has been in a nice setting too - sat outside in the terrace in a main square as the sun set.
After a small exploration to the park we decided to go home and sleep ready for our sightseeing tomorrow!

G&D Read both your blogs OK, no problem (once I'd followed Minty's inst !) Journey sounds rather wearing , about 375 mls I think, but you are young !! Glad you are beginning to like Madrid. Thought you would. Do not remember any Quails eggs in my YHA days.... Still rationing then... and then the hard tack in the Navy... Sob, sob. All good fun though. Only a few people from Oz then. Followed C V flt until it was 1/2 hr away from landing so presume they are home now after a v long day. Spoke Simon who confirmed Monty was still up and running. Phew ! We stayed in Madrid just near Plaza Mayor. Ideal. Have fun and remember to pace yourself. LOL, G and D
Mummy We are home and back online. Tell us when you get back and what you want to do about getting picked up so we can kill fatted calf and ensure fish tapas for dinner. We will post CV photos on Picasa soon: look out for a link. Your mum (who is obviously the one writing this) is desperate to talk to you and wants to know when would be a good time. She misses Minty awfully. Monty survived two weeks with Simon. It is so nice not to have to type on a Portuguese keyboard: all the symbols were in really odd places especially the @ (altgr and 2). mummy says I miss Lucy more! Dave cut the grass i cut his hair not the same without Mintys style tips!!Have fun Love you both xxxxxxxxxxxx
Simeonay Seem to be enjoying your food quite a lot....will I expect two people the size of hippos to turn up home in a few weeks? Which is better though - Spanish or Italian food?!
