Florence is a smelly place. The horses, the dogs and the river help this out. The most guilty, though, are the people. We have decided they spend all their money on cigarettes rather than deodorant, or bras for that matter. Luckily for Florence there is enough beauty in the buildings to drag your eyes upwards rather than noticing the smelly people or the huge amount of beggars who pester you all the time! Today we went inside the Duomo, it was a big building and we are pretty sure god spoke to us. A huge booming voice echoed around this massive cathedral saying "shhh silencio per favore". There is a video of it and you'll see what I mean if I can get it online! (unsuccessful) In other places of worship it has usually been guards who try to keep us quiet, not God.
We went to the best ice cream palour here, that was lovely. I had white chocolate and minty stole some. We then went to Dantes house and church and then onto piazza di Santa Croche where we watched a guy film himself and laughing, to himself, when he kept corpsing.. Awkward and funny.
We made a new friend called Todd, like the fox in the fox and the hound, never heard that outside of Disney before. He is, of course, Aussie. And sleeps next to minty.
I am busying myself by writing this as minty is SO ANGRY! Only capitals can express how he feels. We just went to a Chinese recommended by our hostel map with a 10% discount. Not only did they not accept the discount after we had eaten, but charged €3 for us to sit, and €20 for a meal that was not very hot and 'nothing on jae's'. He is currently reading the review on the map in an angry voice. Wooops! (it was my choice)
Also we have made a vow to stop commenting on things/peoples welfare, like the pigeon. I said it'd be funny to see a Segway crash, the little people-mobiles, and within 3 seconds a guy fell off. Yes, it was funny as it was two people on one - this is against rules! Nobody was hurt though even if they kinda deserved it..
Minty just said 'I want to go home and cry' as we found 'David' was closed. This is our 3rd failed attempt. Contrary to the tone of this blog we are enjoying it here, especially minty, he likes to pretend he is on Assassins creed. (for those of you over the age of 12 this is an xbox game set in Florence.) When we see major sites he says 'Ooh I've climbed that' and 'ooh I massacred a peasant up there!'. So he is a happy bunny. Deeeeep down. Hopefully once he reads his book about wolves he will cheer up.
Off for an early night because it's just too tense to chat! Poor Todd is getting the brunt of this disaster. :(((((
(I am exaggerating of course) Ooop gotta go cool things down, Todd made the mistake of mentioning chopsticks! :)

G+D Your pace is astounding. All those people to meet and be polite to. You must be learning diplomatic skills though it must be difficult at times. No need to remind you are are British and deserve respect. In my early days we used to go ashore and say in a loud voice, "Gangway for a British Naval Officer". Quite often worked. Tried it in Huntingdon with little response. Do hope all goes well as the days go by. Lovely to hear that CV is going well. Here in Brampton we are keeping the lid on a baoiling kettle....... ? AOK with us. LOL G&D
Mummy Hi my darlings. Yet another day in paradise. Started on the beach. Fell into a bar. Woke up at the pool. Found myself in yet another lovely restaurant. Finished in the bar. After swimming more posing around the pool. Fell into another bar. Jst hd dinnnnneeer. Nowwww waitthing for nihgt time c*** ha ha tailssh. !! !!! ???? Went to Santa Maria yesterday. Good training for Gambia. Poor streets. Concrete shacks. One room. Kids playing on the streets. Communal water points. Another world compared to the one we are living in. I am sure I have seen Minty play that game so I can picture it all. Your pictures are wonderful but your blog is outstanding. When I am not propping up a bar we watch CNN and think our lovely Lucy will be reading this one day.!! By the way I am not doing all this on my own. I have finally found a use for Dave, not bad after 8 years. He holds my bag before I dance round it. We do miss you. The only reason I will want to come home is to read your blog daily. Rarther than risk remortgaging to do it from here. The girls are having fun and we all miss you but are so glad you are having a lovely time. Speak again in a few days. Love you lots. Mum. xxxxxx
Dave Fascinating. When I typed the thing about cocktails it interpreted the first half of the word as rude and added asterisks. How did it not realise I was talking about roosters! Fantastic blog. Hope you are enjoying Florence even though it smells and you did not get to see me. Never mind. I will give you a private showing when you get back. Sorry that Minty has to sleep with an Australian. And impressed that God has spoken to you even if it was only to tell you to shut up. Will God ever say that to your mother? Glad to hear that G&D are well even if there is insufficient respect in Huntingdon. Always was a hotbed of revolutionaries and dissenters.
