Today was a rainy day in Florence! We both wore inappropriate footwear so minty was slipping on the cobbles and my espadrilles got very heavy and squelchy. We had a wander round Florence to see all the outside sites such as vecchio, the main bridge lined with jewellery shops. We didn't stay out long and went home to read our books we had bought during the day, I've never been in a bookshop with minty before but finally found something we have in common as we both wanted to spend ages in there and are both indecisive and wanting to buy lots of books! After a read and a nap we went back to the festival we discovered the night before, sadly it wasn't as packed but we sat down with our new yank friend and had some sangria and spoke about our awe at the aussie invasion. All the touristy bars play Australian music that noone else knows but thats when you realise that everyone is from 'down under' as they all start singing about vegemite!!? We also tested the hostel bar which although was liberal with the vodka was also liberal on the age limit so we gave up on that after feeling like babysitters. Not a busy day but it was nice to get a chance to relax! :)

G&D So it rains in Florence...Cancel posting of pith helmet. Sou'wester possibly. Sheltered under a panama as we strolled St Neots today (Temp now 27 C.) Lunched at new Wetherspoons. Excellent. £12.50 for two meals and drinks. Fosters £2.50. Why go abroad I'm tempted to say. We have never been to Florence so envy you the places you have seen but we have only read about. My parents went a couple of times. I remember the 100+ photos they took.... BTW Vegemite doesn't always work regardless of what they'll tell you. Sangria in Italy? They must have a law forbidding it. Still have a long way to go so glad to hear you are having the odd reading day. I'm now having my own tomatoes every meal which must account for my red visage. D not keen so still maintains an upper class pale complexion. Happy Wanderings LOL G&D
