The question on these travellers minds today is; who goes on a bus holiday when they get horrific motion sickness? Lucky for us we were sat behind this person, who wanted to make it clear to everyone before even leaving that she was absolutely going to be sick. She kicked the people in the front seat out so she could have room for what seemed the inevitable result. So our journey to Florence was in great fear. Lucky for us she was all talk, but it was not appreciated. Every movement she made had us bracing.
On to more poetic blogging now, on our journey we stopped in Orvieto, which is beautiful - I'd love to return there for longer. It's a little town (debatable due to it's features but it really was small) that we had to get a funicular to get to and it has a huge beautiful cathedral in it (see blog photo). The story goes that the local priest did not believe that bread was the body of Jesus, until one day some bread bled while the pope happened to be there. A miracle of course! So they built the red and white cathedral where it happened. The cathedral almost looks out of place in such small surroundings. We had some brunch there and set off for the remaining trip to Florence. Nervously surveying the other trip goers in case they were our future roomies..
After arriving here we MADE FRIENDS, they are our room mates, a nice aus couple, and we sat with them and another two on the top terrace drinking beer and iced tea. Using frozen peas for cooling as the Italians don't chill anything in stores or sell ice. They made many jokes about how the English drink warm beer so minty wouldn't mind it- we reminded them there's no heat in England so who needs refreshment!?
We then went out for our walking tour, leather making demonstration and dinner with the bus group. This was nice as we got to know some nice girls. It was karaoke and although we didnt go up and sing, the memory of minty squeezed into a table of about 6 girls singing along to 'I will survive' and 'barbie girl' will not be forgotten. I've never seen him look so awkward. We proceeded to get lost on the way home and found ourselves at a strange festival, we are gonna check it out tomorrow cause it looked pretty good.. Maybe like a multi national festival or something. We didn't stay cause minty peaked about 4pm after the pressure from the Aussies to drink his 3 (warm) beers on the terrace. They were big bottles and I'm pretty sure he won't remember the tour at all. Was more of a 'staggering tour' than walking. We plan to do it all properly tomorrow so not missing out!
The remaining roomies seem fine tonight, lets hope they stay like this! Although as I'm typing this the Chinese person next to me sounds like he is growling. (don't worry we are in different beds)
Will update again tomorrow night (27th). And g + d this is written on my phone! Then connect to hotel wifi and put it up on Internet! Very nice when it works! :)

G + D So the rollicking adventure continues ! Red and white cathedrals, miracles, karaoke with Minty singing... What next? All most interesting and I wonder what you will feel of little old Bedford afterwards..... In my youth, when there were soda water siphons, one way of getting your own back on somebody was to secrete a siphon in yr jacket suddenly lean forward making appropriate sounds and squirt them with the soda. No real damage but sounds so realistic !! Absolute panic - much joy. Yesterday reliived my Biggles days at the Shuttleworth collection. Forgot School hols had started so "ankle biters" everywhere. Today been up ladder (without a parachute) pruning tree. Down safely so Hinchingbrooke can relax. Hope you have congenial company as you go on yr Merrie Way ! LOL G&D
Monty's Guardian Lucy, seems like your having a great time. If anything wouldn't it be better if you just left Minty? He seems more like a hindrance. Getting drunk on 3 beers, ditching you and sitting with a group of girls....what's he going to do next - get you lost? Oh no wait he already has! If your concerned about Monty, he's fine by the way. He came to rugby training last night, been on plenty of walks, being fed and watered (when he's good). Tonight I'm thinking of giving him a pink perm. If you think that is a bad idea, please send your concerns via post-card with a 2nd class stamp. Please note however, it will have to be received by 7pm tonight.
