Today we had a very enjoyable day, we strolled along the Via del Amore, the walk between our town and Manarola, Minty learnt about colours running in the wash, and we had a feast back in our room.
From the start; the walk is the first of the 4 walks between the 5 towns and is the easiest and translated means 'the lovers walk', it's a structured path along the sea front and has great views and no real need for trainers thank God. It really was lovely to look down at the blue water and see for miles to the other towns along the coast. The best thing about this walk was the graffiti, midway through there's a tunnel, which has been covered in love hearts, poems and drawings all of a romantic nature. The fence along the walk was laden with padlocks with lovers names on, and as you'll see in the blog photo, even plastic bags were used to form love hearts. We didn't have a padlock or a pen but I'm sure minty, being the romantic that he is, would have wanted to write an 'ode to lucy' on the wall. So that was nice to see - all accompanied by Frank Sinatras 'I did it my way' on an accordian. (Made me think of Mum)
After some lunch we came back to our town and I did a wash. It has taken this entire time to convince Minty that doing it in our sink with a €1.30 box of powder is better than spending €7 on 1 wash and dry. Especially as we have a washing line. He didn't believe that we'd have to do two washes anyway because of colours etc, so after promising it'd be worth it to save €12.70 he stood over me nervously watching me wash. I don't know what he expected but I definitely felt very smug and happy as his green top dyed the water bright turquoise. He will be annoyed when he reads this. But I don't want him to forget I was right just yet. So our clothes are nice and clean and smelling less like damp and old lockers.
I had a nap as I worked so hard...... And then we bought fresh breseaola and salami to go with some bread for dinner. It was good but we are slowly getting sick of carbs.. Tomorrow minty plans to try the mussels as this place is known for sea food.
:)
If this is the first blog you're reading I have also put some up for the past couple of days x

Mummy It was great to read the last two blogs. Itlooks fantastic. And so do both of you. I am sure you have both lost weight despite the carbs. The photos are picturesque. I can´t beleive you ahve taken them with your phone. We have had an enjoyable couple of days. We went back to visit the school for street children with girls. They were suitably shocked. We´re defintielygoing to do something for them. Reading loads of booksd. Loving hearing about you. We´ll be on again in another couple of days. If D&G and S are reading this lots of love. xx Bye bye Lucy and Minty ,love you lots.
Dave What an energetic holiday. We have to decide whether to walk to the beach or the pool and if the beach which direction to go. Then we have to decide what to have for breakfast, lunch, dinner and which of the large selection of alcoholic beverages to drink. Tough decisions. Sad to see that Minty is burnt. So am I. Fantastic photos. Hope to understand some of it when you get back. Your mum says that if your washing is that good you can do alllllll yours when you get home. xx
G&D So the 5 towns done and dusted.. There was no Lover's Walk nr L'Derry . I used a Morris 8 ex WD Staff Car. We called it "Rattles".Cost £60. Sold it for the same.V glad all AOK with all of you.Been too hot here but rain today has cooled us down.Trust journey today to Nice OK. Nice place !!. Do NB my warnings re Barcelona... It was in the Times again today. Sadly my Father died on hol there in 1956. Too hot. Have visited his grave in a lovely Protestant cementary on a hill overlooking the town. Have visited in HM Ships twice and got quite used to strolling up and down the Ramblas looking for culture..... Rather more pleasant than C V in earlier years."avast heaving" and "splice the mainbrace" it was. All without any air cond. And as for the sharks.... Enough, enough, Love to all G and D
G&D (Again) We have just been thro' all the photos in slow time and they really are magnifico !What a folio. The only one we didn't like was the Bruschetta..... As for Minty trying mussels in the Med. Dodgy Remember there is virtually no tidal flow and they do not have our standards.Things that move OK. Otherwise let THEM eat it. Hope all went well. Nothing to try before a journey. You need 24 hrs to get things sorted if there happens to be a duff one !! On that happy note we wish you Bon Voyage again. LOL D&D
