Lucy's Big Adventure!
Another month has gone by since I last wrote & not sure where its gone... Have now been in Darwin for over 2 months! I've been sick with the flu for the past 2 and a half weeks and just cant shake it off, even lost my voice yesterday! All my own doing as I'm not really letting myself recover, but I cant afford to take the time off work & its impossible to sleep when you're coughing all night long! Still, am getting there with lots of medicines from the chemists & Vitamin C!
Have managed to land myself yet another great job, this time, I'm a legal secretary! I don't know how I get these but its so good! Never worked in anything remotely related to law in my life but they love me! Its just one Solicitor who's a great guy, in a small office just down the road from where I'm living, working 8:30-5pm every day. On my first day, he handed me the keys, told me he was away on business for the next 4 days and to just "open up, lock up, answer the phones & do what needs to be done"! So I sat in this lovely little office completely on my own, pretending to know what I'm doing in charge of a law firm.. Fantastic! I feel like a phony & that someones going to come in from Candid Camera or something & tell me its all been a big joke, but no, they want me to stay on until they find a permanent replacement .. and I'm fine with that!
Plans have changed for the next couple of months, Gavin & I did intend on going back to the farm to help with sheep shearing and spend another month there before going our own ways, but due to "irreconcilable differences" (!!) and Gavin's finances, we're not going back anymore and he's now leaving Darwin next week. We're still friends, but travelling together just isn't an option anymore. Really sad that we're not going back to the farm as we were both looking forward to it but things just haven't quite worked out as originally thought. I'm staying in Darwin until mid November which I'm really happy about. Its still just wonderful here, though getting SO hot! Still over 35 degrees every day. After that I'm planning a trip to Ayers Rock & Alice Springs for a few days with my room-mate Donna then unsure of where after that, but looking forward to seeing something different.
Went to Litchfield National Park for the day a couple of weeks ago, which was just brilliant. 2 car loads of us went, 8 in total and just had an absolute ball. In true Aussie style, we took a barbie and lots of beer with us and swam around in the waterfalls and acted like big kids all day, was just great fun! Was good to get out the town for the day and see trees and wildlife and things again! Took lots of photos, though again, not really many very scenic ones!
Hope all is good back home in the UK & Autumn is in full swing?? Do remind me what rain, wind and cold temperatures are like again?? I can't quite seem to remember!!
Think that's all to report for now? Planning another trip to a different National Park in a week or so hopefully, and that's about it.
Still happy, still loving it & still me!
Lots of love
xxxxx
