Lucy's Big Adventure!
G'Day everyone. Sydney is nice & sunny and Gavin is looking rather lobster-like!
Gavin passed his course with flying colours (Apparently it wasn't too hard!) And whilst I was hard working, trying to find us somewhere to live, jobs, etc etc - I found someone advertising for construction staff, so I gave Gavin the phone number last night, he made the call, bought some work boots & he was up this morning starting work at 7am for $20 an hour!
He's finding his job a bit boring as he hasn't much to do but will more than likely stick it out a while longer. They love him as he gets his work done quickly & has to ask for more to do! I've finally got myself a job - About time really, its been a while since I last worked! Its temping at an Insurance Company, doing general Admin, filing, faxing, organising etc, rather boring and in a deadly quiet office, so quiet all you can hear right now is me typing away! (Its my lunch break by the way, I'm not abusing my position of having a computer just yet!). Still, its $22 an hour, which is about 10 pounds an hour, 9am-5pm, and its not in the City, which I'm really pleased about as its much less hectic. Its about 20 minute bus journey North from where we're living so not bad at all. Could be a month long assignment, or 3 months, depending on how long they need me for, and that will then determine how long we stay in Sydney. We went to Manly beach at the weekend which is a nice tourist spot and we caught the ferry back to the City afterwards, as its apparently one of the "must see" sights - And it was, spectacular views of the City, and I managed half an hour on a ferry without being sea-sick - (Grandma - Are you proud?!!) Taken photos, but again haven't sorted them up to be uploaded but will do very soon. Not a lot else to report, still hunting around for somewhere to live, but again, depending on my job length, we're not sure there's much point of moving again just yet. Planning a trip this weekend up to the Blue Mountains which are meant to be beautiful, just got to arrange getting the train there & somewhere to stay for the night. Best get back to work now my lunch is over. Speak to you all soon! Love from Lucy & Gavin xx
