Today we were going on the Sydney harbour boat cruise which I had been really looking forward to! Still hadn't seen the Opera House!! Met with Tayo at half 11 and we started our walk down to the harbour. It was a really nice walk, got to go through the botanical gardens! Saw some massive spiders and bats which was a bit creepy! Walked past the opera house and got some photos, then around to the bridge. Was a really nice atmosphere, reminded me a bit of Covent Gardens as there were lots of street perfomers :-) At about 1 we got to our boat which was nice, only small for us and about 6 other people we met there. Unfortunatly the weather was a lot worse than it had been yesterday, pretty cloudy and drizzly at times. But am glad we had sunshine for the beach so didn't mind too much, just meant it was very cold especially as we were on a boat! Went for a cruise around the harbour, the guy pointed out some famous places liek Russle Crowes apartment, the PRime Ministers house, Nicole kidmas old house and a house that had just sold for $53 million! We did go past some really nice houses!! Saw lots of boats and got great views of the opera house and the bridge. The boat was stopped by a little bay and you could jump in, which a few of the guys did, but most of them instantly regretted it!! The water was cold but it must have been freezing when they got out!!! Wasn't crazy enough to jump in myself! There was a little kayak a few of the guys went in too which was cool. We had an amazing BBQ lunch on the boat, burgers, pasta, potatoe salad, the lot - all as much as you can eat! We then made our way back to the start, going under the bridge which was cool. Got off the boat about 5 and were ready to walk back but Danielle didn't want to walk so said she was getting the train back so most people went with her but I fancied the walk so me, Hans, Tayo, Tom and the Belguim whose name I cant say, let alone spell, walked back to the hostle. Fell asleep for a little bit then got showered and ready to go out to the mardi gras! Its a massive street carnival that happens every year in Sydney, all about gay pride! We met in one of the dorms and got dresssed up and covered in neon paint then played some games then made our way up the street. There was a wicked vibe, really eccentric as you can imagine - lots of crazy outfits!! Had got there late so couldn't actually see the parade, but there was a big tv screen showing it so we could watch it on that. Everywhere was absolutley packed, wasn't ready for how big a deal it would be - even Louie Spence was there!!! So enjoyed that for a bit then we tried to find a bar...... easier said then done. No one really knew where we were going, we were trying to find a certain bar but kept getting sent different ways and abiovuly with the main roads shut it wasn't easy to get around. Everyone was getting pretty annoyed as we were wandering around for soo long finding somewhere to go. Ended up going back to the street all the clubs had been the other night but being a Saturday night they were all charging loads to get in. Was pretty annoying so we went back to the hostle for a bit and went to the lounge. Played a few games but I was mainly sat chatting to Lauren. At about 1 we decded to go out, as we had been ready for a night out and a bit dissapointed. Me, Lauren and Valerie made our way down the road, had a quick drink in a pub, then left and a guy and girl got chatting to Lauren. They were trying to get us to go to a club they were in but again it was $20's to get in. Anyway after a lot of blagging on the guys part he got us in! We assume it was a gay bar! Proper house and rave music, was packed too but good fun. Were in there for a while, had a good time, then the night went a bit "Eastenders" on me! Valerie was really really drunk and away with the fairies but then she threw her drink over this guy! Apparently he had pinched her bum but she went mad and stormed out the club. Obviously we ran after her and she was really angry. So we went back to the hostle to go to bed. I was chatting to Tayo who was outside, telling him what happened, then heard mega shouting. Lauren had seen Connor with his arm round a girl and had flipped. They had rowed a fair bit since they broke up but this was really bad. Lauren ended up storming down the street with Valerie, then some guy came down and started shouting and Connor for being noisey. Luckily they didn't get in a fight but we had to calm Connor down. Once Connor was back in his room I decided it was definately best for me to go to bed, so I did. Shame we hadn't seen the carnival properly but was glad we'd went, shame we didn't find a bar striaght after becaus that would have been good, had fun with the girls at the gay bar but then it was a shame the night ended so dramatically. But went to bed and got a great nights sleep all the same :)
