Yoga this morning was not quite relaxing as I had anticipated and dragged on a bit! But managed to have an hour nap before breakfast and then off to school (with a super long name). They made us feel really welcome, had a few games, dancing and then we had to perform, so we did a short talk about UK education and then I talked about other school activities in Autumn term. Then of course we pulled our dance out of the bag and performed that in front of the students, had a snack (some very random food) and then went to a food science lesson where they made potato and onion baji's for us. V.nice food! Then went to a science lesson, when we got shown a demonstration on smoking and energy. Then downstairs to play as well to burn a candle in it. We also had buddies assigned to us, which was nice, but so many more new people! Left the school and walked back to the hotel and had lunch then left on the bus for Dharavi. The largest slum in Mumbai it has definitely broken my perceived stigmatism of slums they had some brilliant industry and everyone looked so happy, such a sense of community! Came back a little wet and dirty, it tipped down, but I wore my hiking boots, so my feet were fine J. Came back and showered, had dinner then had a special session where 5 Dharavi villagers came to hold a special q&a session in the hotel. They were very opening and answered the questions well! Then we had a surprise speaker, and Indian female actor who talked about rape in India and its secrecy, and how the stigmatism of it being the norm can be broken. So they perform a play/act all around the world, including Edinburgh fringe fest and try to break people's silence. It was quite moving and very deep, so after that we all went to bed. Again early morning tomorrow, and felling knackered!
