11am we left for D.A.V. Model School. Got some flowers to say thanks and also gave them some school books from our carboot sale at home. They were all very welcoming and we got the royal treatment-Front row seats! The day was a celebration of teacher's day, where students take over teachers roles. So we were sitting in the main hall, all the children were told to sit straight on the floor. It started with a welcome to all the dignitaries (past teachers, managers, finance, bosses of the school etc.) They each got flowers, and we got flowers too! And a special welcome. Then a dance by the students, a speech by the smaller/younger students. All the teachers and dignitaries won awards and got cups and cards form the students, more thanks and speeches (in Hindi) by all dignitaries, 2hrs later and we got to chip in and I said "Thanks, your lucky students, work hard etc". We then got directed into the staff room, where we ate with the dignitaries, some lovely food, and so much of it! Proper Indian food, DELISH! We said more thanks and then had a photo with the headmistress (Ms Lily). We walked back to the office (in the rain) and there was actually some people working! (Shock) Two Saar employees and one Lall (gentleman from the first day). We put together a quick 3 page report and emailed it off, had some photos with the staff and then left finally back to the hotel (we gave them a small plant, biscuits and tea to say thanks). Then had an hr nap before packing up my suitcase (well 90% anyway) and having tea before heading down to the basement to hear about Gilles life, his experiences and career because unfortunately the light and sound show was cancelled due to the rain L bit Gilles is such an interesting man, performing and chorography all different forms of dance all over the world. He has setup his own company as well, kind of reminded me about the movie last night, where he followed his dreams to become a dancer!
A lovely day, hopefully keep in touch with the school and Ms Lily!
