Exploring jasper!
Today we headed south out of jasper. It was another beautiful drive, it seems you can't drive anywhere In Canada without your camera clicking away!
Our first stop was maligne canyon, which seemed to be bottomless as you peered over the edge into the darkness. The milky blue river vanishes down out of sight but you can hear the roar of rushing water and feel the spray! We followed the river down its course of waterfalls each one was spectacular! We were grateful for the water spray as we climbed back up!
Our next stop was medicine lake, which has an interesting story. During the late summer the lake dries up and eventually disappears, It is then refilled during the winter. Due to the vastness of the lake native Indians believed magic made the water vanish, but it is actually due to the underground network of caves.
The next stop was maligne lake, the largest lake in jasper national park (lake Windermere eat your heart out!). Here we hired out a Canadian canoe and paddled towards the snow capped peaks. It was very peaceful, luckily no wind!
We are now sat in a diner with wifi - bonus! Now we are in the wilderness our posts may not be as regular. We will still write them daily but we can only upload them in wifi spots! So a few days may appear at once!
Right time to head back to our amazing campsite! Stef wants to make a fire!
With love
