Hey bear!
Today we moved onto Banff! The drive was once again epic but stunning! We continued down the road named icefield parkway - which is an absolute must if you ever come to Canada! It's about 150 miles long and takes you from jasper to banff. During the journey the road climbs high through an amazingly diverse range of mountain scenery, from surging rivers, high alpine forests, glaciers and azure blue lakes. Not to mention more wildlife spotting including bear and moose!
When we arrived at banff we were pleasantly surprised by our campsite (Johnston's canyon) It is almost identical to our last one! Once again it has a very private feeling as we are surrounded by trees and backing onto a creek. But best of all there is another fire pit for Stef to play with.
On our arrival we decided to check out the creek. We could hear the creek but couldn't see it through the dense forest. After 50 metres we reached the waters edge and stopped to admire the view. To our surprise a park ranger tapped us on the shoulders and warned us to go back to our campsite immediately! A family of 4 grizzly bears had been spotted in the campsite and were now wondering down the creek towards us! So we quickly headed back- I'm sure we attract them!
We then headed into Banff! On first impressions Banff is it is a very scenic and vibrant town. It is surrounded by mountains, has a beautiful blue river and many park areas to relax in! It also seems to be Stefan's dream shopping destination as all the shops are outdoor related, from clothes, camping gadgets to tents! You can get it all here!
Today was beautifully sunny so for the first time ever in our shopping history - stefan went in and out of lots of shops, while lorna sat outside waiting for him! Makes a change!
With love
