Day 16: Lausanne.
Today I took a slight detour from my original itenerary and headed to Lausanne to stay with a friend I had met in Prague.
This morning I was up again ridiculously early as I had to head back to Buchs to get the, first of three, trains to Lausanne. From Buchs I went to Sargans, from there on to Zurich and finally (taking a double decker train) to Lausanne. The whole journey was really easy, and the changes were straight forward. When I finally got to Lausanne Beau and his cousin were there to meet me off the train. After the introductions were over we headed back to his cousins house to drop off my suitcase and get changed to go to the beach (finally). The beach in question was one around the edge of lake Geneva (and it was more of grass and pebbles than an actual beach). It was so nice just relaxing by the lake for the afternoon, sunbathing (and burning, typical British skin). I even braved the, very, cold water and went for a quick swim in the lake. After a couple hours we headed back to the flat and got ready to go out for the night. One of their friends was having a barbaqaue in the city for their brithday so they invited me along. It was really nice meeting some new people (the barbaque was strangely located just off a main road infront of a church). After a couple of hours, and some swiss barbaqued food, we headed to a nearby club. The club was fairly similar to the ones back home, with similar music, but the people were quite different (they dont seem to dress up much for a night out). After an hour we decided to head back to flat.
So there you have my first day in Lausanne. Its so pretty here, and relaxing by the lake has been such a nice change from all the city sightseeing I have done so far.
More from Lausanne tomorrow. Watch this space.
