Knysna Elephant Park!
At 6.30 am it is an elephant that I start my day with, walking out with them into the field as the sun begins to rise, meeting more of the guides seeing the park and being out in the field! Watching the cheeky glint in Mashudu and Thato the two babies’ and then to bottle feed them milk every 2 hours throughout the day. We walked with the elephants and watched there training, today was orientation day and to get a feel for the park.
The day manly involved feeding Mashudu and Thato, each elephant has a story each one a different personality and it is going to be an incredible 4 weeks getting to them and seeing there relationships with other elephants. To be awake quite early your tired half asleep but as soon as you’re in the presence of an elephant your eyes widen, walking into the boma the morning meeting with the guides, and you walk outside. The sun is rising into to the sky and you have a line of elephants leading the way into the field. At 5.30pm the end of the day, your also tired but once again as you stand and watch the elephants coming inside…the enclosures are small and you’d love for them to be able to stay outside but this isn’t possible, but when you watch them come in a start to eat there pellets and branches there presence as you stand there watching them makes you smile knowing that there being looked after for the night and the day is finished as its started; with the elephants.
