Brrrrr!!! Kinda chilly today! I'm doing the whole cool runnings thing & pretty much layering on every piece of clothing I have here, bar the backpack. Well, not quite, but kinda! And it certainly is cold by Australian standards! But the sun is still shining (which must be some kind of record here in London) so I'm heading out to peruse the amazing toy department of Harrods & go for a walk through Hyde Park before meeting Dad in Paddington for lunch.
Yesterday Dad and I drove out to Cambridge to visit my uncle Leigh, aunty Sheila, cousins Anna, Fiona, & Richard, as well as my grandparents who were staying nearby in a Bed & Breakfast. They live in a beautiful little town called Haslingfield with their gorgeous & highly energetic Shetland Sheepdog, Sparky. We left at 8:00AM, stopping for pastries, fruit, & coffee along the way, and in no time at all we'd left London proper behind & were driving through beautiful green country fields.
It's a truly beautiful time of year to be driving through this part of the world. The upside of all the rain is that everything is lush & green, & there are beautiful daffodils & magnolias growing everywhere. I'm also lucky enough to be here when the blossoms are blooming, which only happens for a very short period of time each year. And all the cottages in the country look like they're straight out of a picture book!
We all went out to lunch at a lovely little Chinese restaurant, where we were treated to wonderful service & hospitality, and piles (literally!) of delicious food! Sweet & sour pork, lemon chicken, money bags, spring rolls galore! My body protested rather loudly later that night with the first bout of heart burn I've ever experienced in my life, but it was totally worth it! :D It was mother's day in the UK yesterday so it was really lovely to be able to spend the day with my Gran, and Aunty Sheila. By around 4:00PM the jetlag was beginning to set in & I slept most of the way home in the car…managed to sleep in until 6:30AM this morning though, so I think I'm starting to adjust!
Well my friends, sunshine & daffodils await so I must say goodbye for now! :)
