Yesterday was Dean's last day in Sydney so we just spent most of the day mooching around enjoying eachother's company. We did however make an important visit to Krispy Kreme to stock up on a selection of donuts for desert later on and showed considerable self-restraint in not eating them all during the 5 or 6 hours that followed!
That evening, Dean's family flew in and we walked up to join them for dinner in their apartment at the Meriton at around 8. The apartment was on the 68th floor and had amazing views all across the city. We all shared Dean's 21st birthday champagne (kindly provided by the staff back at the Holiday Inn when they found out it was his birthday) along with some sushi and gourmet pizza. It was really nice to just sit and soak up the luxury! Krispy Kremes went down a treat for desert and we all went to bed feeling full and satisfied.
This morning, the Johns' got packed up and ready to head to the airport before Dean walked me back to down to my hotel to say goodbye. Suffice it to say my cheeks are still considerably mascara stained and I periodically burst into tears randomly, so I'm really quite glad my mother will be arriving any minute now!
This afternoon I went to see Billy Elliot (the musical), which served as the perfect distraction this afternoon, and was really quite amazing. One of the first scenes in the show is when all the boys are at boxing training and there was this tiny little boy, must have been about 4 years old, and they're all made to do pushups and it was honestly the most hilariously cute thing ever!! This kid's biceps made mine look positively massive! Haha He did manage about 4 or 5 full pushups on his toes though! Which is more than I can say for myself…
In the evening I went out to dinner with Esther and Bri, so I had quite an awesome girly support system in place to get me to the end of the difficult day. We went to this gorgeous little Italian restaurant with white and red checked table clothes and an extremely creepy, extremely short, Italian waiter who insisted quite aggressively that Bri actually taste the wine we ordered and then continued to make jokes throughout the night like when we ordered Baci desert, and he like "And then kiss, yes?" Not surprisingly the answer was a resounding no. I'm off to bed now and have many heavy object within an arm's reach in case I need to lob one at my mother to stop her snoring! Haha
Sweet dreams to all,
