Hey guys,...........wow!
As you can see we have almost reached Cairns our furthers and final stop on the east coast and core blimey it has flown by, far to quickly!
My last blog was probably over a week ago if that and i have so much stuff to tell you, its crazy to think how much we have crambed into jst a week.
My last blog was saying how were were about to head to do our Whitsundays sailing trip on a boat called the TONGARA! sounds exciting, it was a small catermaran which held about 20 people pluss 5 crew, so a small group of us but it was all exciting. We met 5 lads from Wolverhampton who were on our trip, such a small world hey!! they were a right laugh! We sailed most the day heading towards the 74 islands, all gorgeous and stunning with white sandy beaches and the greenest trees and bushland you ahve ever seen!
The weather was scortching! We all sat chatting topping up our tans, having a few beers ready to watch the sunset once we pulled up within a bay.
We had lunch and continued the party pretty much all night! The stars were fantastic, in the middle of the ocean with no surrounding lights they were so clear it was amazing!
After a brilliant night of meeting people and not feeling sea sick one bit, we all camped out on the deck star gazing and playing drinking games!!! was a wicked experience.
The next morning after feeling worst for wear, we headed off to one of the best snorkle areas on the coast...... very exciting! We all got kitted up in stinger suits and dived into the 23degrees oacen lol, it was so awesome!
The fish were hige and really colourfull, the coral was spectacular, i have never seen anything like it before, i had such a awesome time loved every second of it!!!!! (apart from the mouthfulls of salt water that went down my snorkle pipe haha!)
We headed off to another site to snorkle more, again very stunning. (by the way this was all at 6.30am in the morning, hungover and feeling very sea sick, i think i did well haha)
For most of the day i felt very ill, obviously self inflickted and sea sickness too, we headed to the most popular island with the top most stunning beach in the world Whithaven beach!!! Now guys this was stunning, you will see the photos and wont believe how pretty and luxurious this beach is, its totally moviestar luxury!!! However, there were so many horse flys on this island and bioy they were the size of a bee, so huge, i found a leaf branch and used it to protect me and lucy, i was squting them, lucy found this tottally halarious and decided to film me, however i have told her i will kill her if she shows anyone as i look a totaly prat hahaha! very funny times, it makes her cry to watch the video....!!!
We spent 3 hours chilling in the sea in our wet suits, strange experience in itself, nothing on baywatch though! We say a stinger ray which came so close!
We walked along the beach before heading back to the boat....i was dreading getting on there again haha!
We headed back to our boat bay park up and sat watching the sunset for a second night. We all had dinner and had a rather quiet night really..... howvere music blaring and many people still hungover from the night before and also tired from all the snorkeling, we had a few drinks and again slept on deck under the stars, was wicked.
Our final day on the boat, we woke up so early 6am....crazy!!!! We all went snorkeling and searching for nemo fish and turtles, unfortunatly me and lucy didnt get to see any, although a few other people did!
After we were all snorkled out, we started to head back to airlie beach, all chilled on the boat crusing back to shore sunbathing and chatting, was awesome! Sad to come to an end as it went so quickly, however quite greatfull to be getting off the boat......my legs were still wobbiling that evening, thinking i was still on the boat it was weird!!!!
That night we all met up for free pizza and headed into town for a few crazy drinks, was really good, we all had a dance and wonder up the street into other bars and rolled in to bed rather a little late :D
Everyone was leaving the next day to catch their buses to move on, however me and lucy still had another night at Airlie to enjoy with a few free drinks vouchers and cheap pizza on the beach, was a random night but really cool!! Also saw a guy we met on our travels way back in New Zealand, this was funny!!!
So after our awesome time on the sailing trip and crazy nights our partying with new friends, we left Airlie that morning, very close to missing our bus too! eeek!!!! We made it and set off heading to Townsvile!! We didnt no what to expect, except for its a city and its where the ferrys depart for magnetic island!
When we arrived we caught a bus with all our bags to our really cheap hostel, it was awefull, so dirty and nasty looking! It was so hot and we only had a fan in our room, we would wake up so sweaty it was unbareable, we had to stay 2 nights and could wait to get out of there! We went to the cinema one night and watched the film about lying with ricky jevase! this was really good! We took a muffin down to the harbour one evening and endoured in that haha! through out the days we didnt really do much as there wasnt much to do in Townsvile at all, there wasnt any decent shopping malls or nice streets to wonder down, just pubs and a few clubs. However, we did stroll along the Strand, which was the main strip along the beach, with a pretty cool free water park that we went on, although it is really for kids haha! We sunbathed and relaxed.(like we do most days lol)
When it was time to leave we were quite excited to get out of that hostel and head for luxury on Magnetic Island. We took the ferry over and a bus to our hostel on the island, Magmums Backpackers, this was lovely, a proper resort, lots of familys, however it was really quiet! We pretty much had the pool to ourselves. We stayed on Magnetic for 4 nights, each night was really quiet, the bar closed at 10pm as there wasnt many people around at all. We met a guy called stig from norway, he was cool, we chilled with him most nights, we also met a guy called Marc from essex, he was also a laugh. We decided to hire a car the one day with the lads to check out the rest of the island, we went all along the east coast and looked around all the bays. They were lovely, awesome stone rocks and gorgeous beaches. Of course we couldnt swim in the sea because of the stingers, this was a bit rubbish :(
However, we all had an awesome day in this little old banger of a car! and i must say Lucys driving was on form for a change haha!
For the rest of the days we did alot of chilling by the pool and sun bathing :) we are on holiday after all!!!!!
We took a walk to some rocks on the old ferry peir right oposite our hostle where you can feed wallibies, we managed to see one, he was a little ugly, but still cool to see up close!!!
We met a few locals guys who were really cool to chat too, oh and had a few encounters with wildlife while being out on the island, boy.... nature is evil! Seriously, possums were like attracted to me, they followed me, everywhere i went they came after me it was scary!! Lucy also had a parot nearly land on her head, and then a big fat rat ran out and scared the life out of me, not to even mention the bats hahaha!
Never the less, i had an awesome time here, we met some cool people. Lucy had fun on rubber rings when we visited one of the Bays, this was funny, i was watching from the shore and all i could see was legs flying in the air and her screaming haha very amusing :D
Oooooo i also tried to shake a cocount out of a tree, lucy tried to climb up one but both ideas were usless, I went for the cheating option in the end and picked one that had fallen from a tree haha, Took hours to open it up.... It was so worth it, a pure natural free wild coconut!!! I was so excited always wanted to do that lol!! the small things hey!
One of the nights we headed to another hostel to check out the nightlife, it was ok stayed open till 12 lol, had a few cocktails with Lucy and the lads and few of Marcs mates, was a cool evening!
After having a true relaxing time on Magnetic we headed back to Townsvile via ferry and checked into a different hostle, much more clean and had a swimming pool and aircon in rooms, we are a lot happier. we leave tomorrow and head for Mission beach, weve heard theres not much there, however were staying for 5 nights, so i hope it turns out ok.
Lucy wants to do a white water rafting trip there so thats going to be cool.
After Mission beach we head to Cairns where we will set up base for Christmas gosh what a scary thought, its come around so quickly arghhh!!! Exciting though.
