Hey guys, well theres loads been going on since we last updated, so I'll do the rest of what we got up to in Bangkok and then Linz and can up date ya on happenings in Chang Mai.
So the day after we had the temple visits we laid in and then decided to move to a cheaper hotel as our 'luxury' (it had TV and fridge) couple of nights had run out. Moved to this new hotel round the corner and although it was cheaper it still wasn't quite slumming it, i'm sure once money runs out we won't have this option! Once we checked in we headed for the river, we literally got about 100 metres and the heavens opened and it p'ssed it down! Went for the only sensible option and had lunch. Once it stopped raining we walked up to river and bartred a boat ride. Not too bad at about 600 baht for an hour. This gave us our own dodgy little boat, which trust me was no QE2! The trip took us around the old city of Bangkok which was completely different to Khao San Road. This is where the real Thai people live, loads of houses on sticks. Unbelieveable the condition of some of the gaffs, they were literally falling in the river as we were looking at them. On the trip we had little women in boats selling us stuff and some guy on the bank sent us a loaf of bread on a pully system so we could feed the fish, random how these Thai people get money out of ya, but like proper tourists we paid!
Once boat dropped us off we got chatting to this Thai fella who recommended we take a trip to see some sites, he pointed us in the direction of a tuk tuk and we thought why not as we hadn't been on one of those bad boys yet. OMG, I needed a new pair of pants after ride in tuk tuk, they literally fly around the place ignoring traffic lights, other cars and they drive on toward oncoming traffic. Plus they are tiny little things, which being 6ft plus lets you see b***** all, however i'm thinking that aint a bad thing! Journey took us all around Bangkok and was pretty cool, however these tuk tuks are sponsered by shops, so inbetween stops they take you to shops and get you to try and buy suits and stuff. Got fed up with it by the end and was raging at the guy to stop dropping us off at shops, but to be honest we did get a 2 hour trip all around Bangkok in tuk tuk for 40 baht (60p), so i guess i can't complain!
That evening we decided to head for the infamous part of Bangkok called 'Patpong', yes you guessed it ladyboy terrority! The area itself is crazy, makes Soho look like a victar's tea party! After a fair few beers we built up courage to venture into a bar. The first place we went into they had some Thai boxing, which was wicked! Kicking the crap out of each other and we could smell blood so we were cheering for more. So a couple more beers and we ventured into a bar for a 'show', first thing we saw was pretty explicit and all i can say is that those girls got skills! Both myself and Linz got chatting to the owner of the place and a waitress and they were loving us. Slagging me off and praising Linz for her larger then average assets! Not to be outdone I proceeded to show the waitress my England (la la la) pants and then she decided that it would be a good idea for me to dance with the girls on the stage and being the shy wall flower I am I duly accepted. As I walked on to stage I hit my head like a drunken fool and almost fell over, then I proceeded to shake my fat ass (in the pants) for all the perverts in the bar. I suddenly realised what i was doing and got down rather sharpish. We didn't hang around much after that, as you can imagine and then headed back to Khao San Road. When there we chatted to a couple of travellers, one from Germany (boooo) and another form Oz. We headed with them to this little carpet place outside shop where loads of backpackers were drinking and stayed there till 5 in the morning drinking these vodka buckets.
The next day we were hanging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Linz had a proper 'Lindsey hangover', so i decided to leave her and have a wander, in my drunken haze i decided to chop my mop head and got a Thai haircut. All i can say now is i resemble soemthing between Hitler and Dwain Dibbly (Red Dwarf fans will know what i mean). Not much to report for rest of the day as was shattered.
Later that evening we got night train to Chang Mai, seemd like a good idea as they make your seats into pretty comfy beds however train throws you around like no ones business and even though i got a fair bit of sleep, Linz was on top bunk and didn't sleep at all. Feel a bit guilty maybe next time she can have the bottom bunk. We woke up to proper jungle outisde the windows, kept expecting to see Tarzan swing by at any moment. Train arrived at Chang Mai at about 9:30am and from here on i will let Linz let you know what happens, as a) she is better and b) i am bored of writing and i am sure you are bored of reading!
