So after a not too bad 10 hour flight we arrived at our last destination, the US&A (greatest country in the world). Now I'm not too sure if all of you know out there, but our original plan was to spend two weeks here but as the funds have taken a server battering we tried to book a flight home for as soon as we arrived. However all the flights from LA were booked up and the best option available to us was to fly out of Phoenix (random) a couple of days later. This gave us one night in LA and one night in Phoenix with an internal flight in between.
Knowing we only had one night in LA we thought the best way to see as much as possible was to book a tour through our hotel. You will notice in that last sentence that I said hotel and for the last couple of nights we have ditched the hostels and hoteled it up. Who knows maybe we will never stay in a dorm or hostel again and I for one will not miss them! The tour we took was LA by night and took in some of the main sights around downtown LA, the Hollywood region. Our first stop was to visit the LA Music Centre and LA concert hall. Now to be honest this really didn't mean much to us and due to the fact we were battling jet lag, we kinda just wondered around here in a daze, until picked up and driven to the next stop. The next stop was worth the tour on its own as we got to see the famous Hollywood sign. Linz as you can imagine was jumping up and down on her seat and was first off the bus and up the hill to view the sign. Not much else to say really as just a sign and so pictures were taken and off to Universal studios it was. We didn't actual go into the studios as they are massive and that would be a tour on its own, but we did wonder round the Universal City Walk. This to be honest isn't anything that special as its just a load of bars, restaurants and shops. But in true American style everything was big and bright and it was pretty cool just to experience all the crap they have everywhere.
Next stop was Hollywood Boulevard, the heart of Hollywood. Even I will admit that this was pretty as we got to see the Chinese Theatre where all the stars put the hand and feet prints in the cement. The most recent ones, were Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Matt Damon who were only there last week, cool eh! Other site on the Boulevard were the Kodak Theatre were they film the oscars and also just walking up and down checking out the stars on the pavement, I even managed to find me?!?!?!?!? After this we got back into the bus and drove through Beverly Hills, down Sunset strip and into Rodeo drive. Sunset strip was awesome and had so many bars which Linz informs me stars hang out all the time. At one point we did pass a load of cameras and lights but couldn't see who was there. However the next day Linz ran into the bathroom while I was on the throne (nice) and excitedly told me that Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore and Aston Kutcher were there, hhhmmm surely that news could have waited 5 minutes. Anyway the last stop on the tour was Rodeo drive and we got 10 minutes to wonder round there. This was pretty much spent with linz taking pictures of the sign and also going all giddy at the sight of the hotel where they filmed pretty women. After all that excitement it was back to the hotel and that concludes our experience of LA, well apart from the airport.
The next day we caught our flight to Phoenix and that's where I am writing today. We haven't really done anything here due to the fact we aren't here long, its literally hotter than hell (105 degrees!!!) and plus the fact we not even sure if there's anything to do here anyway! We are now just kicking it around the hotel waiting for our flight back home. Can't believe this is going to be the last journal entry, how fast has this year gone! To be honest I personally have mixed feelings about not writing any more as the journal has become a bit of a chore,ha, funny eh, when only stress in life is when you have to write down about what an awesome time your having!. But on the other hand it has been an excellent way to record our trip and let everyone know what we have been up to. A huge thanks out there for everyone who has read our entries and sent us messages, its been great knowing that people have been able to share some of experiences, even if its only been through the net.
So there we go that's enough of the corny stuff (think the cheese American culture is wearing off on me) and all I can say is heres me Grant signing off one last time...
