Linz has done the last few entries and now its time for some bad spelling and basic English from the G-man.
So we headed off to Phuket from Hua Hin on our VIP bus. We kinda thought that bus was gonna be similar to ones we had already got but to our pleasant surprise it was pretty classy. Only 3 seats in a row and the seat basically turned into beds, we were so excited about the classyness that we kinda forgot we had 10 hour joruney ahead of us! After our night jouney we arrived in Phuket Town around 7:30am. After the usual hassle from people trying to get us in taxi's (man, those geezers are getting annoying) we decided to walk and find a hotel. After about an hour of searching we decieded that the town was a hole and ressembled something more along the lines of Coventry and not paradise. So we headed off to Patong, which is kinda the main resort on the island and where all the tourists go. This is where we ended up staying for the next 3 nights.
Patong itself if basically a massive toursit resort with all the usual stuff, including loads and loads of bars. The guesthouse we stayed in was one of the best yet, really clean, little telly and quite spacious. The sheets were even that clean that Linz, for the first time, didn't use her sleeper sack and actually slept in the bed! Think we are finally turning into proper travellers. The first day we slothed out after our bus journey and didn't really see much of the town untill the sun went down, when Phuket comes alive. That evening we hit a few bars, which was pretty cool I guess (ND). Think we might of had more drinks than what we actually thought as I decieded to buy these grasshoppers (yes the actual insect) and started munching away on them. The first couple were a real struggle, but eventually we got through a whole bag. I think we took inspiration from our uni days when downing pots of vinger and eating dog food sandwiches was the norm!
The next day it rained! I say that so simply becasue it never stopped and therfore we couldn't really get up to much. The only thing for it was to save ourselves for some more drinking in the evening (its a hard job but someones got to do it). We headed out pretty late and decided to go to some of the lady-boy bars. Really cool atmosphere at these places as there is such a mixture of people. Obviously you get your sad desperates, but you get loads of couples, groups of lads and groups of girls. Here we meet up with some Aussie guys, one was a gay fella and the other was this massive ex-army homophobic guy! Go figure! We went off with them to another bar where we proceeded to drink copious amounts more and enjoy some Pommey/Aussie banter. One guy was obessed with Little Britain and keep doing Marjorie Dawes, so much better than you Farrow! After a while they headed back to hotel (proably sick of us) and we thought we would go for one last drink in the lady-boy bar. Man this was to be the most scariest experince of my life! Some of these "birds" (some you honestly you can't tell, check out the photos) took a rather unhealthy shine to me and wouldn't leave me alone. They keep flocking round me calling me superman and my hero! Linz thought it was hillarious but i didn't have time to find it funny as had to keep my wits about me as they were grabbing me from every direction! Crazy night!
The next day we headed down to Kata beach where we spent the day chilling and watching the surfers. The tide was well up and so the waves pretty big. As the afternoon progressed there was group of around 30 Thai fellas playing beach footy. After watching them for a while i thought i fancied a bit of that, so i hanged around like the sad kid at school untill one of them took pity on me and invited me to play. I thought here was a chance to show Thai people how English people play footy and boy did i! I was crap! These Thai fellas were flying past me and i think i gave more fouls away than touched the ball! Oh well it was a laugh, although i think if i went back i probbaly wouldn't get another invite!
The next day we headed down to Ko Phi Phi for the adventure to continue......
