Arrived in Hua Hin after rather uncomfortable bus journey from Bangkok, but when we saw the sea all was good again - yay! It is basically a holiday type place as it is only 3 hours from Bangkok so there are quite a lot of Thai's and obviously still the hundreds of fat old Westerners looking for 'good time'! Stayed just near the beach and headed down there on first day for some much needed rest and to start working on our tans (Grant especially obviously). The beach was lovely, pure white sand like powder that squeaked under your feet when you walked and sea as warm as bath water. There was also a Thai beach football tournament which we watched for a few hours, all the while Grant hoping someone would get a massive injury so he could run on and save the day as the token English sub! Anyway this was all pretty cool and kind of got us all caught up in the moment so forgot to top up our suncream... oh dear. Hmmm, 3 hours later and looking like lobsters we felt as sick as dogs and very faint. After ordering some food in a restaurant I went to the loo and was sick so we had to walk out before our food even came! Went back to the guesthouse where we both just sprawled out feeling like hell for the rest of the evening... lesson learned - when you do see the sun here in monsoon season it is actually bloody strong! So, didn't get up to too much else while in Hua Hin as Grant was pretty much 'all cultured out' and I felt he might cry if we saw one more Buddha or Wat. Onto Phuket next... aarrghhh, only a 10 HOUR coach trip!!! Linz x
