Today we caught the ferry from ios to Mykonos at 11.15. As we were walking down to the car park to get our transfer to the port we were saying how my bag looked like the wheels were going to fall off. So of course as I was boarding the ferry my front right wheel snapped clean off haha. Luckily we only have 2 days until we are in Athens so hopefully I can find a decent one there.
Really need to do some washing so I will put a bag in when we get to Mykonos. I threw out a pair of wedges I didn't really like. No one wears heels here when they go out. But I kept another pair just in case the do in Croatia I highly doubt it though. Thank god they don't I can't even imagine how many times I would have rolled my ankles!!
We received an email from our hotel in Mykonos saying they would pick us up but the ferry was nearly 40 mins late so it was nearly 5pm and we weren't sure if he would be there. Luckily he was. His name is George and he is so so lovely and funny. We went to our hotel which is just up a hill on the way out of the main part of town.
We went and walked around the town for a few hours and had a yiros. Mykonos is so pretty! Little Venice is by far my favourite part.
It is really windy here though and I wonder if it is always like this because no one else seems fazed except for us.
We walked back to the hotel around 8 and relaxed got changed and went back down. We were trying to find a restaurant recommended in my lonely planet book but it was impossible to find. Instead we stopped at a really gorgeous restaurant with fairy lights and vines across the roof.
Everything on the menu looked amazing so we got mushrooms in a creamy cheese sauce as an entree (out of this world!!!) and I got the chicken curry (also amazing) because I saw a man eating it and when I asked two waiters they both said it was a favourite and Claire got her first moussaka in Greece and it was delicious. We splurged and got some piña coladas as well.
I was so full I felt like I was going to be sick so we made a point of walking around until we had digested our amazing food. We got home around midnight and tried to watch some Olympics without much luck.
