Everything that went wrong:
1. Finding out a day before our trip that I booked accommodation in Cork instead of Dublin.
2. Having half our toiletries confiscated at the airport because of the 100ml per bottle cut-off for hand-luggage.
3. Dianne losing her boarding pass tear-off and us nearly having heart-failures thinking she cant board the plane.
4. Losing my passport as we arrive in Ireland - only to have the passport-check lady come running up to me (about 20 mins later) saying "Ey tought to meself 'Wher de fock did she go?'".
5. "Misplacing" one of the 3-day bus passes and having to buy another one.
6. Walking exactly 1.8 miles in the dark, up a mountain in a farm area with no streetlights just to go to the highest pub in Ireland (Johnny Fox's).
7. Arriving at every place as they are closing, eg Tara's Palace (dolls house) and Fry Model Railway.
8. Wanting to go to Dracula's Castle and then daydreaming on the bus and actually forgetting to go.
9. My camera getting stolen on the last night with ALL my photos. ARGH!!
10. Di forgetting her brown jacket on the bus to the airport.
So, basically, we ended off our holiday minus a camera, minus a brown jacket, getting stuck in really bad traffic on Monday morning and arriving 2 hours late for work… but this was all of course worth it because:
…totally priceless moments that will be engraved in my memory forever:
1. The walk up to PowersCourt House and falling in love with every tree...
2. Di and myself dancing in the streets, each listening to their own music and just being free and crazy spirits…
3. We stopped to take a breather while walking the 1.8 mile (in the dark, up a mountain) and as I'm about to start moaning about the long, dark walk, Di gives a little screech and as I turn around I was face to face with a big donkey!! He popped his head over the hedge as if to say "Howzit gals"!! It was the best moment of my entire weekend! The walk was WORTH it just for the donkey. And if i could do ANYTHING again, it would be to go back and see the donkey.
4. Seeing the sea…!!
5. Me drinking beer at the Guinness Factory…
6. Going for a nice walk up a hill in Bray and then as "nature called" did some bundu-bashing off the foot path and then ended up slip-sliding through some mud.... giggling and laughing as far as we go.... seeing a squirrel... and then finding a little secluded spot with the most breathtaking view of bright-yellow flowers framing the sea .... and then talking for hours while eating Cote D'Or chocolate...
All I can say is: IRELAND IS JUST AWSOME AND AMAZING AND WONDERFUL AND BREATHTAKING AND PICTURESQUE AND SERENE AND GORGEOUS!!!
