DAY ONE
Ireland has got the most amazing energy about it! The minute we stepped off the plane we were both like "WE LOVE IT!". We went straight from the airport to a little dorpie called Enniskerry (South of Dublin) so we basically started our trip travelling through the countryside, which is just soooo beautiful!!! It was such a gorgeous day that in the afternoon we took a walk up to PowersCourt House for some yummy lunch (and even yummier chocolate-chip cookie!) PowersCourt is famous for their beautiful gardens!! See the pics!!
And then, WHERE should I begin with our evening?! Oh dear. See, when Di and I are together, making decisions are very hard so we usually end up wasting a lot of time doing a lot of "I dunno, what do you think?".. "No, I dunno either, what do you think?". So instead of leaving for Johnny Fox's Pub at about 7, we ended up leaving at about 9:30! Which resulted in us not being able to get a cab so we had to WALK all the way up a mountain - a very long, windy road .... It's a pity it was in the dark, cause I think the scenery is quite something! We knocked on a few doors cause it was just so far we thought we were lost and everybody just kept on saying "its only 5 mins up the road". (We did of course fail to mention to them that we were actually WALKING, if you were driving it would've been 5 mins. Tch!). (On the way back we actually asked the cab driver to measure and it is 1.8 miles! That's damn far!).
Anyways, so Johnny Fox's is the highest pub in Dublin and is basically situated in Glencullen in the Dublin mountains. Its one of Ireland's oldest (1798) and most famous pubs! Really awesome to sit and listen to the live Irish music, enjoying the festivities and seeing all the interesting decor! (There was a newspaper cutting from when Elvis got married sometime in the 70's and also a newspaper dating back to 1890-something, and then there was the usual props like horse-saddles, saw-dust on the floor and, you know, just cool stuff!).
So the first day was very chilled and I'm so glad we actually stayed in the countryside and not in Dublin itself!
