After waking, we headed to Fat Tire for the Versailles tour. Somehow on the way there, my wallet with my passport, Texas Drivers License, Student ID, credit card, debit card, hostel room key, and quite a bit of money was stolen. I noticed it was gone once we arrived at Fat Tire and had to call up the parents 2am their time. The people at Fat Tire were really nice and super helpful- trying to figure out the best way to refund us for the Versailles tour, giving us a map pointing out where the US Embassy was, and even letting us steal their wifi. If we had been able to go on the tour, there was a random Aggie in our group! Whoop. We headed back to the hostel so I could grab copies of my passport and ID and then found our way to the US Embassy, where we had to surrender almost all of our belongings - phones, cameras, liquids, chargers - they don't really give you much for entertainment in there. However, we ended up being entertained by the people inside. There was this little girl who literally had an unending supply of energy and was constantly running around, playing with other kids she didn't know, offering chips to strangers, and just being plain hyper. At one point, her mom had her up on the counter and the lady at the desk was pointing her finger at her, probably telling her to listen. Then Stacy, the little girl, started running around the whole building and we saw a glimpse of her on the other side, and then her mom was after her, running around trying to catch her. It was so hilarious. For some reason, some people got to use the cord phones inside. There was this couple who had their stuff stolen once already and was back again for a second time and now had no identification. What a pain to go through. Then there was another guy who the employees announced over speakers that his mom was on the phone for him. Too funny. Technically, at this point in time, I didn't exist with no identification. Crazyyy. Once I finally got my temporary passport we finally left that place after being there for way too long. We were starving at this point so we began walking around looking for someplace to eat, but turns out we were in the nicer shopping area of Paris, where we saw Louis Vitton and those types of stores, so any restaurants were too expensive for us backpackers. We basically walked around in a circle and then decided to go back to the square by our hostel that was really cute and had lots of shops and restaurants around it. We found this pasta in a box place so we all got some 4 cheese tortellini...it was delicious. Best pasta yet! I was still so tired so I decided to take a bit of a nap and eventually Chad and Ashton joined for a bit. When we woke up, we went over to the restaurant we ate at before by the Eiffel tower and ordered another pizza. I figured out my money situation while FaceTiming my family, and then we walked over to the grass by the Eiffel tower. When leaving the restaurant, I randomly saw this guy from A&M I vaguely know, so weird to just run into someone randomly halfway around the world! Once at the Eiffel tower, it was quite the spot to be. There were tons of young kids our age and then lots of families with small children as well, just hanging out and drinking and enjoying life. Pretty awesome. A couple of small boys kept running around by us playing with a soccer ball and wrestling with one another, it was quite entertaining. At the first of the hour for 5 minutes after sunset, the Eiffel tower literally begins to sparkle. It is amazing to see. We stayed until after the 11pm sparkle and then headed back to the hostel for our last night in Paris.
