We woke up and had some free breakfast - croissants and rolls, not too shabby, and then we headed to the Eiffel tower to meet Fat Tire Bike Tours for our day tour of Paris. Our first view of the Eiffel tower! It's pretty awesome, not gonna lie. Our tour guide ended up being a girl who was a year older who graduated from UT last December and is now living here! She definitely liked us best cause we're from Texas and her age. The bike tour was awesome! We went everywhere from the Eiffel tower to Ecole Militaire - where Napoleon went to school; Les Invalides - where the French Revolution began; Alexander III Bridge - an awesome bridge that was the first bridge with one singular archway and there is a matching one in Russia when they formed an alliance with them; Place de la Concorde - a large square where many people were executed as well as King Louis XVI and they had to move the guillotine around the square because of all the blood splatter, apparently years later if you stepped on the cobblestone blood would come to the surface; had lunch in the Tuileries Garden at a small cafe; and then road through the Louvre. The French love their symmetry so if you stand by the arch at the Louvre, you can match it up with monuments all the way down. It's pretty awesome. After the bike tour, we met Graham, who is my aunts best friends son and is the manager of Fat Tire in Paris. We didn't really have a POA post bike tour so Graham helped us figure out where we could go. We took some pictures of the Eiffel tower from a huge building across the street up a big hill, and then went to see the Arc de Triumph. It's massive and there were people everywhere, especially the tourist Asians, they were loving that site. We spotted a McDonald's from afar and needed to get some wifi so we went over there for a bit and caught up on everything going on back home. We then walked down a big street from the Arc de Triumph that had lots of expensive shops and expensive cars. We had a list of places to eat that Fat Tire Bike Tour gave us for a falafel place so we headed over there and think we were in the Jewish District area. They were kind of like large burritos with a random mix inside. A pastry shop was close by so we each got something from there, I got a crumbly apple pie that was delicious. Then we headed to the Princess and the Frog bar, and basically followed these people around in order to figure out how to get to the right subway. After asking multiple people where the bar was, we finally found it. It was a pretty chill bar and they had some good beer choices, so we hung out there for a couple hours and then went back to the hostel. When we got back, we grabbed a crepe on the way and were eating it downstairs when these two other guys staying there started talking to us as well. They were really cool and kept on offering us drinks! When we couldn't keep our eyes open any longer we went to bed.
