Once we got to the station, we definitely realized we were in a city where English was much harder to find. The subway stations are very much like London in the way that it's very hustle and bustle. People are constantly moving and you better not get in their way. It was quite difficult to figure out the train station and we kinda just went on a whim figuring out how to get near our hostel. Once we got to the Place Monge station and walked outside, the lovely rain met us. What a perfect way to enter Paris! Our hostel was really easy to find though and very close to the station. We're staying on the 3rd floor and the floor you walk in to is the 0 floor, so it's quite a few steps to climb; you get a bit winded going up! Pluses to our room include that we basically have our own room except for one random bed, we have a sink in our room, and it's pretty spacious. However, it sucks cause we have to walk downstairs to shower and go to the bathroom, and we also don't have any working plugs in our room, as well as free wifi. Too bad we're here for 5 days! Oh well, it was a good price and we really don't spend that much time at the hostel anyways. We'll just have to hit up other places to get wifi and have charge parties downstairs to power up our phones and cameras.
Once we got settled, we decided to venture for some food and also look for some wifi. The hostel front desk told us to walk down and we'd find a McDonald's, which we eventually did, but the wifi wouldn't work for us...so we wandered back up and found a restaurant by our hostel called New York Cafe. They had a deal for a 3 course meal for 10 euro...quite the steal! Our waitress was kinda quiet and almost rude, but we had read up that Parisians are like that. Definitely need to learn some French phrases. The food was delicious though! We all got something different - lasagna, pizza, and spaghetti, along with salads and I had cream brûlée for dessert while Ashton and Chad had like a chocolate ice cream. Yum yum. After eating, we were all smelling pretty nasty from the day so we showered and then went to bed.
