We woke up relatively early and started walking towards Luxembourg Gardens, stopping to see the Pantheon on the way. We chilled at the gardens for a bit, watching some random people do tae kwon do, or something like that, and then this older group of people speed walking with what looked like walking sticks with handles. It was highly entertaining. We then walked over to the Chapele church, where stained glass windows cover it and the oldest painting in Paris is found. It was beautiful! We then walked over to Notre Dame and walked around inside, then grabbed some pasta in a box for lunch and ate it down by the Seine River. After lunch, we took the metro to the Eiffel tower and stole wifi for a bit from the restaurant from yesterday, and then grabbed some chilled wine from the Fran Prix and sat in the shade by the Eiffel tower and relaxed. Pretty cool you can just do that at any time when you live in Paris! Ashton wanted to get some more paintings so we went back to that same area and I ended up getting a painting for my mom. There was this massive group of kids, not the first huge group we've seen that we tried to stat away from - it seems like so many school children travel all over Europe! I can't imagine trying to keep track of a group of 30 children in a huge metro station. We took the metro up to Moulin Rouge and snapped a few photos of that, and noticed all the sex shops everywhere- it may have been worse than Amsterdam! We then started our journey to look for this fondue place people had told us about. We had to trek up this massive hill to get up to the fondue place and Secre Cour, another great leg workout! When we found Refuge des Fondu, it wasn't open yet so we went to a convenient store and Ashton basically peed in a whole in the ground. We found a cafe with free wifi and split a bottle of Bourdeaux. It was very smooth and a lot better than the other Bourdeaux we'd had before! I FaceTimed my family for a bit while I had the chance and Chad attempted to FaceTime his mom, who had two teachers helping her and still couldn't figure it out...gotta love parents and technology! We FaceTimed Morgan instead for a bit while she was dog-sitting. Chad accidentally went into the ladies restroom and locked himself in there for a few minutes...almost called us but didn't have his phone on him, probably could have gone badly. We then went over to the fondue place, where we had no idea what was going on and were served this platter of random assortments and some sort of drink. They then brought the fondue out and we had to spy on some other people to figure out you dip the platter of food into the fondue. We ordered some infamous baby bottles of wine, and we found out later that there's a tariff on wine glasses so it's cheaper for them to serve in baby bottles, and now they're famous for that! The fondue was pretty good, I wasn't a huge fan of it because I like my queso so much, but a little piece of sausage, cube cheese, and the fondue was pretty damn good. It seemed like they seated everyone else around the restaurant before they put anyone by us, but eventually this couple from New Jersey was seated right next to us. The tables are situated so that it's one long table and then one long booth on one side and chairs on the other so whoever sits on the booth side has to literally climb over the table - very graceful. The New Jersey couple was really nice and gave us tips on places to go in our other Europe stops and were quite fun. They were on a 2 year anniversary trip and had gotten married in Rome 2 years ago. We were sad to say goodbye to them at the very end. We then started the rest of the trek uphill after grabbing a couple bottles of wine. Once we found a place to sit, our picture taking began. It was super crowded, and there was this dude doing all sorts of tricks by a light pole, he was pretty legit. You really could see the whole city and pick out sites that we had been to which was awesome. Ashton and I moved down to this other area to attempt to talk to some French boys- turns out they looked a lot older from afar. They were only about 16 and here on a field trip for a couple of days. By the time the sun had set, we had drank quite a bit of wine and were feeling pretty drunk. The night gets somewhat fuzzy at this point but all I know is that we lost Chad, Ashton and my phones were dead, I lost my camera, Ashton bought a fedora, and we somehow all made it back to the hostel.
