Day 21
Duncs is still in Kaikora and he will update about his past 2 days with the dolphins later. For me today was one of them days where everything went well.
I got out and had a walk around the town late morning before having a well good/cheap Chinese takeaway sitting in the sun, watching the street performers in the main square. I killed a few hours playing internet poker in the internet café again and again I won a fair amount, which was nice. Then as I paid for my time online I noticed my Abercrombie hoodie on a peg behind the counter, where I’d obviously left it one of the 2 previous days. My faith in people was restored as it had obviously been handed in, and I was riding the wave of happiness.
I decided to head up to the casino to see if any poker was going on, unfortunately as it is Monday it doesn’t start until 8pm (my route through the park to the casino was cordoned off by the police due to a brutal stabbing last night so that brought me back to reality a bit :-). I rewarded myself with a pint in the really posh ‘High Rollers Lounge’ - it was expensive, but I got to sit in a huge red leather arm chair and watch a bit of Spurs vrs Reading on my own 42’ personal plasma. It was one of them times where you put your feet up, pat yourself on the back, have a sip of a pint followed by a nice long “ahhhhhh” - the good life.
It was pretty decent to chill out the past few days and I’m sure duncs had a cracking time swimming with dolphins.
We’re meeting up again at the airport a bit later to fly to Australia. Our flight leaves at 6am so to save money on accommodation, we’re going to meet up and sleep at the airport around midnight.
Whilst writing this my laptop has suddenly picked up wireless internet as well, so I have 5 episodes of Lost downloading REALLY fast - hopefully in time for the plane, and may have a few hands of poker of course! What a day (well, so far so good anyways)
…………Karma did come back and get me a little bit. We missed the last bus to the airport and had to get a taxi, there was no shops open at airport so slept rough on an empty stomach, and I only managed to download 3 episodes of lost. We landed safely in Sydney this morning, so on the grand scheme of things I’m still pretty satisfied J .
