Day 19
Went for a little walk around the city. Saw the touristy things (museum, botanic gardens, and art village). The art village was really good, even though small art and craft stalls are defiantly not our thing. It’s set in a block of narrow buildings, which were built to resemble the Oxford University colleges. It was a boiling hot day so we chilled out in the courtyard and listened to a bloke singing old Irish folk songs/English war songs. Then we had a walk and talk through the botanic gardens before going to the museum. Quite a chilled out day.
Duncs met up with Candy and Phil, who he worked with in France 5 years ago and we were invited to a bbq at their place. They were a really nice and friendly couple and we had a few beers, good food and watched rugby before coming back to town. It was rammed in the bars and we went to a fair few before calling it a night.
Day 20
Duncs really wanted to go swimming with Dolphins, whereas I wasn’t too fussed so we arranged to do our own thing for a couple of days and meet at the airport before our flight….Duncs will fill you in on his side of things later.
Mike was still about so I chilled out with him, but spent most of the day sleeping off the night before. Once I regained my senses we went for a roast and pint up the road and spent the rest of the evening chatting on the hostel sky patio. I did a bit of washing, phoned home and all the other bits and pieces I’d fallen behind on before getting an semi early night. I was pretty tired because I spent all night ranting about how someone has stolen my Abercrombie hoodie…my only one left as I left the other one in an internet café in Nelso a week ago. So I’m gonna be cold while some idiot wears my fave top….fuming.
On a side note the hostel room got quite funny this night as there was me, Mike, 2 northern monkeys, 2 foreign guys, and 2 amazingly posh, stuck up girls. We all spent a fair while laughing at the rich girls saying ‘yar’ instead of ‘yes’ and complaining about how their dads wouldn’t give them enough money to fly to South America or do a 3rd skydive (no lie!), whilst at the same time one of the northerners did the most unusual sleep talking ive ever come across. It sounded like a cross between him being possessed and impersonating a zoo. I couldn’t sleep for laughing at what I was hearing from both sides. Great night of free entertainment.
