Day 18
Up early for our lift to Christchurch. Yesterday the girl who we arranged to drive us had a foreign sounding, semi-American accent and we had high hopes she’d be a Scandi stunner. Unfortunately she was a pretty ugly German. We were pretty tired from the night before and the fact it was baking hot and she wouldn’t shut up was mildly annoying. She was nice enough though, but she clearly advertised to drive people for the company and we both wanted to just sleep for the 6hr drive.
Once in Christchurch we found a hostel in the corner of Cathedral Square (the main square) and just as we were checking in, Mike, our roomate from Fox Glacier (the one who got threatened at the 21st birthday party) turned up. Another strange coincidence but we got on well so it should be a good few days.
After a bit we went to quite a few pubs and found a pool place which had a sea of tables….I counted 17, but there may have been more elsewhere. At 1am we saw England were playing Ireland at cricket, so we went to get a macdonalds and watch it at the hostel. After 1 over Duncs was asleep and I struggled through about 6. I woke up at 6am and Ireland were batting! I finished my food and went to go to bed, when I got up I saw a sea of KO’d English guys who obviously met the same fate. Duncs apparently got back to the room at 7ish.
