The shuttle bus from the coffeeshack dropped us off at the Umtata shell garage,we had been informed that the Baz Bus was delayed due to the fact that it had broken down, ther is no real suprise there! So we set up camp in the service station restraunt for the next few hours. We being me , Fiona, Bonnie and Andy. We ordered some food which ws to be the first of a number of orders as we were to be sat there for the next 4,5 or 6 hours. we felt obliged to purchase some food and drinks at regular intervals as we were determined not to move until the Baz Bus turned up and believe you me it looked like we had moved in by the time we had finished bags scatterd around our feet and our belongings all over the table what a sight to behold!
Hours passed by and still we had not heard from the Baz Bus who had informed us that the bus was three hours late, however four hours passed by and nothing so I rng the office. The response was the bus is going to be 3 and 1/2 hous late............. now i just told you that it was already 4 hours late, hmmm you do the maths so i politely informed her of this and she honestly didnt know what to say what a shambles!!!
The next thing you know that manager of the restraunt brings his mobile phone to me and says I think this is for you!! how odd someones was ringing me on the manager o the service stations phone!! how bizarre. So i cautiously said hello. it turned out to be the manager of the hostel i was staying at who turned out to be a complete angel. he organised a shuttle from umtata to a junction somewhere where he would meet me. Luckily there were others on the bus too so i wasnt alone. The bus turned up an I hopped on the shuttle, i iteraly thoght I was going to die on this shuttle but I could hardly say let me off this now i the middle of nowhere I think that would be almost as bad as having the worse possible journey on this shuttle bus.
Anyway i amde it to the meeting point safe and sound where the manager of the hostel dillon was waitin for me with his truck and a load of the village kids in the back who miraculously took my bag and lifted it into the back of the truck, they were only dots too.
Now this hostel i stayed at had no lectricity and was very ecologically friendsly. As there was no night pollution it was blimmin dark and trying to negotiate steep steps and uneven ground in the dark is not an easy task. A lovely family ran this hostel. The lady of the hostel Malvina was a brilliant cook and Olivia the little girl was just a gem. Only 18 months old and very clever.
My two days there were spent relaxing in the gardens while the (chickensand horses wanderd around)Â and wandering on the deserted beach. In the evenings I would sit on the hill and wach the locals play football on the beach at sunset. One of the most relaxing times I have had so far.
So after 2 days of living ecologically friendly and eating awesome food I made my way to the BAz Bus grabbing a lift off Dillon who didnt actually care if he was late beause he knew they would wait. I have to say im not sure i was that confident of that but he was right!
