Now the drag of leaving the hostel at 5.30am was soon blown away by both the journey to and the time I spent in Cintsa. Leaving the city smog of Port Elizabeth we found ourselves in a more natural Africa, probably what people expect to see, small cllections of huts clustered together on vast open land.
The sun was shining and the wind was blowing. The roads were becoming increasingly winding and bumpy. You could see women and men working the land in the fields with their basic tools turning the soil with hoes and harvesting by hand. It was a real eye opener really I mean I had seen this in other countries but being in the more developed areas of cape town and the garden route where you could possibly be anywhere you can soon forget where you are.
The journey to Cintsa was a fairly long one however when I got there I could see that it was quite isolated but it was such a nice change from the city and to get lost in the tranquility was just what I needed. I stayed at a hostel called bucaneers, this is a well set up establishment that caters for all types of travellers. Unfortunately I couldnt quite stretch to an ensuite cottage so I made do with a blue dorm instead.
In all I spent three days at Bucaneers, they do run a lot of activities and they are right on the beach so time could be spent doing lots of activities or lounging by the beach or at the pool. However some of the activities were not running so there we go. The most amazing thig I did do whilst I was there was to go to the local school and listen to the children sing I tell you that when they started singing and thier voices filled the room and im sure the surrounding area I got goose pimples on my skin it was truly amazing the talent of these children and they were so grateful of our visit ... words just cannot describe it.
So after three days of strolling on the beach and lazing by the pool I was kind of ready to leave, the activities I wanted to so were not available at that time so it was time to be on my way. I did see some of my travelling buddies before I left so I was kind of tempted to stay but it would have meant staying for more than just one day as the baz bus does not run every day on this stretch of the coast, how rubbish. Bucaneers at cinsta... definitely worth a visit.
