Well I have been in Spain for about 4 days and I am going to give you all a little update on my adventures...
So, everyone I have been staying with has been so friendly kind and helpful and we have had many nice dinners, chats, plaiting of hair, going to cute little morroccan bars and a little shopping which i have managed not to participate in.
I have met both Rhiannon and Izaro my new housmates to be as of tomorrow and got on really well which is always a good thing :)
I have attempted and failed at setting up a bank account and getting my NIE number....Mondays jobs...
I have drunk a LOT of coffee :)
I have been told by a lot of people that my spanish is reallly good which has given me a lot of confidence.
I have eaten a lot of bocadillos mmmmm
I have had some lovely spanish ice cream
Very luckily I have learnt that the majority of people in Bilbao speak Castellano, it is very rare for people to speak Basque here as many people in the biskai region choose not to or dont actually know it.
I have shed tears over the exterior of my flat, however realised that a new flat with new double beds, new sofa, chairs, bedside tables, desks etc, one which can be painted how we like, and one with friends and windows is more important than anything.
I went to Durango today to meet the teachers and everyone at the school I am going to be teaching at, and absolutley LOVED it. I am going to have my OWN classroom and be teaching about 12-14 students by MYSELF and they will generally be 16-18. The teachers were sooo lovely, they have given me Mondays off and I never finish later than 3.00. They all were coming up to me introducing themselves and they said that my spanish is really good. Even the headmaster said my Spanish is good, the only difference is that I speak slower!!!
This afternoon with Rhiannon we explored the coast and its soooo cute along here...and I have been given a map which shows all the secret surf spots :) xx
