Hellloooo......Sooo the ´big adventure´has started..
Tears were shed on departare followed by excitement and worries over how I would manage to get myself, 3 bags and my surfboard on the ferry, to the bus station in Santander and onto the bus to bilbao...well...I have succeeded and currently am sat in my friends apartment in central Casco Viejo.
The ferry journey, eventful but exciting. Starting off with some last minute sun on top deck and watching Plymouth and the U.k drift away, unfortunately, the wind picked up and I had to retreat back indoors to enjoy some leisure reading-i.e trash ;)
With a little luck on my side, I managed to find window facing seats to eat and read, also avoiding sitting outside the bar and karaoke on my second sitting....I was able to see a beautiful sun setting whilst sat there, and it was in fact a very pleasent evening. After some more light reading followed by some Crazy Beautiful, the decision was made to retreat to my level 5 cabin where a good 7 hours of sleep were had!!
The following morning a little freshening up-which later seemed a lifetime ago and highly pointless - I went up to the 7th floor to enjoy some bread and jam and pretty dreadful coffee...however the sun was shining and my book was calling to whittle away the following hours of the journey
On arriving in Santander, I was the joke for many fellow passengers, however I manage to learn where the bus station was, and get a complementive ýour spanish is very good´from the first person i spoke to, before settling in at Santander bus station for a couple of hours - a late bus, typical Spain -arrived and transferred me to my future home for the next 9 months!!
Nagore and one of her flatmates-who I have yet to figure out her name, met me at the bus station and kindly took two of my bags and we took their metro to their beautiful house in Casco Viejo!!
Some more dreadful coffe, a trip to a chino shop´and heré I am sat updating you all whilst they plan a short film with their University friends....an eventful couple of days it has been, but a good start...XXX
