Still on Koh Phangan, we're going to stay here until Friday as the weater is lovely and the place is really nice. Can't believe we've been gone nearly two weeks - feels like we've had about four different holidays.
Yesterday we hired out a moped to see the island. I was a tad concerned about this as it said in the Lonely Planet guide that lots of people that go out on the bikes come back with a ko phan scar!! The roads are proper rocky and hillly and sometimes it just turns to sand roads!! Luckly for me Dave is a good driver and we made it back in one piece. We went to see a waterfall in the middle of the Island called Tharn Prapherd. The road just stops and you have to walk down through the jungle to the waterfall - then across it?! V. scary as we were both climbing in flip flops but worth it for the view. We also visited a meditation temple with a real monk. Dave had to talk to him as they don't like women - he showed us a stone that a previous king had inscribed his initials. We had to drive through a jungle to get there and when we got back we read that tigers and bears freely roam around them!! Arhhh!! It was wicked having a bike to get around on though as this whole place is really hilly. We've had to give it back now!
Other than that we've been sitting by the pool, or on the beach - which is lovely (piccies to come)and eating lots of thai food because its cheap and yummy. Whilst sitting on our balcony the other night a huge lizard comes crawling along the ceiling - we both jumped out of our skins and had to go inside. Luckily he was gone in the morning. We're yet to see any massive spiders but i'm sure they're around. Dave saw a snake under our bungalow (its on stilts) the other day but it was only a baby one. Guess that whats you get when your living in the jungle.
We are having a fab time though and will write again when we get to Krabi (we're going on Saturday).
Speak soon,
Lou & Dave xxx
