Well it's been a pretty quiet week. I've been working fairly long hours (who said your elective was a skive?!) and even been given some work to do in the evenings! We had a drug lunch at work the other day - amazing! So much better than at home! Not only did we have the usual sandwiches etc but also little mini hot nibbles like sprg rolls, dim sum, baby quiches and meatballs with a whole variety of dips. We also had giant cookies, muffins, danish pastries, scones with jam and clotted cream and an amazing selection of fruit - melons, pineapple, strawberries etc. not just the usual cheese and pickle sandwiches and bananas!
We had a fairly lazy weekend, it started with a big club crawl in cairns - one i actually wnet on last time i was here too which was cool! - where we met loads of fun people and ahd a great laugh. Saturday morning was then pretty much written off as we all slept in and caught up on the gossip from the night before. We had amazing fish and chips for lunch at the restaurant across the road and then headed into town for some internet and i headed into the travel agent to ahve a chat about options for my days off at the end. will keep you updated when i actually make up my mind what i'm gonna do! Saturday night we headed to the cinema, Julie and i saw Harry Potter and Gill saw Die Hard. The Australians are hilarious at the cinema, they cheer and shout things out and they all clapped at the end when the credits came up. Ha ha. Would have been an early night but one of our roomies came in wasted after playing some drinking games, she was so funny singing away and telling us really amusing stories. We ahd to help her get changed and do her makeup for her so eded up not getting to bed til late.
On sunday i went into town for a boost juice and bakers delight. I love those shops. Picked up a few pressies for people back home too and had a good wander round the shopping mall. It was far too hot to be outside on sunday i don't know the exact temp but i got burnt with sun cream on just walking the ten mins from the hostel to the centre so i was glad of the air con!
This morning was really sad as my two fave roomies left to go down the east coast. As a result i got up about an hour earlier than usual so had a really long time to get ready this morning - you'd never know though!
Oh i know what else happened last week. I've been having issues with these australian toilets. the locks are so weird, you lock them but then you don't ahve to unlock them to leave. Like as soon as you open the door from the inside it unlocks automatically which means you can never check if you've locked it or not. the toher day i was minding my own business on the loo in the main recetion foyer in the hospital when some woman came barging in! I shouted that there was someone in the toilet and she wa slike 'well lock the bloody door then!' As if i did it on purpose! So i won't be using those toilets again - still not sure how they lock!
