Well here is a veyr long overdue entry. what can I say? I've been very busy. This will be a bit rushe i apologise but I'm running about 3 weeks behind on blogs and have a plane to catch soon!
Had a lovely final week in Cairns with mum and dad being over and would you believe this - mum and I were wearing the same T-shirt when she arrived in Cairns?! Anyhow they took me out for lots of lovely meals and bought the supermarket out of rocky road and crisps for me - yum yum. I also managed to get a couple of days off work so the first day we went up into the Rainforest, going up on a train and coming down on a skyrail which was very cool - though I was a bit nervous on the skyrail! Then we went to an aboriginal culture centre and saw some dancing, spear throwing, story telling and got to try our hand at boomerang throwing which was fun! Also mum and dad went and brought the rain with them so it poured for the first two days they were here and then gradually cleared! Mum and I did some shopping while dad sat in the pub watching aussie rules football on the rainy day though so all was not lost. the other trip we all did together was to go out to the reef which was beautiful. I swam with a turtle which was quite exciting and we went on a guided snorkel trip and saw nemos, giant clams and some really cool coloured fish.
The day after they left I had another visitor as Michelle came up from Sydney to see me (well, she came to see the reef really but it sounds better if I say she came to see me!) We had a lovely night together catching up over a few drinks and did a book swap to prepare us for our beach holidays. Oh and just before she arrived I went to get my eyebrows waxed and it was the same woman who had done them a few weeks before but she didn't remember me. Anyhow she was criticising the person who did it last time (HER!) saying that they had done them squint! Hilarious! Especially since she also said that last time I got them done too. I didn't tell her it was her who did them ...
Michelle left early in the morning to go to the reef (didn't envy her as she'd only had about 4 hours sleep!) and I had a nice long lie. My last day in Cairns was lovely, the sun was shining and the festival had started AND saturdays are my favourite day there because the market stalls are fab. Had a mosey around and listened to the fab tunes that were being played down by the lagoon. Had one last look in the shopping centre and a final Boost Juice and then got the bus to the airport. God I was with a scary bus driver! this guy started banging on the side of the bus cos the driver drove past him and the driver went mental! Shouting at him saying that he would have to pay damages on the bus etc etc phew he was mad! Anyhow the flight down to Brisbane went smoothly, although was late so I ended up missing the last train and had to spend $40 on a taxi to my hostel! Had a nice taxi driver though who was telling me about his daughters who both want to do medicine but it will cost them $240,000 each! yikes! the government will lend them it because they are top of their classes but then they have to pay it back when they qualify. I think the guy was thai or something so thats why they ahve to pay more. But thats a crazy amount of money!
Just stopping off in brisbane for one night before heading off to fiji for my week on sun and relaxing! Amazing!
