Today was another late start. This time change has been brutal. It was Louvre day, so we headed in that direction. On the way I bought some water colors from street vendors. One guy stands there and paints them and sells them on the spot. I really, really like the street vendors along the Seine. They have a lot of interesting stuff. The que for the Louvre wasn't too bad, and we got in quickly. First and foremost....the building was huge. And crowded. And hot. We grabbed a map and off we went. In hindsight I would have taken one of the English media guides. None of the artwork signs were in English, so there was a lot of guesswork. This part will be fairly short, which I know will be sacriledge to Tanya, but we trotted through the Louvre relatively quick. We saw what we wanted, and then it dawned on me that the Louvre doesn't house any Impressionist art....which totally bummed me out. So we trotted across the river to the Musee d'Orsay...which is the Impressionist mecca. And it was closing. So we stood there for awhile trying to devise a plan, as this was our last day in Paris. We decided to get up ass early and hoof it there in the morning before check-out.
On the way home we stopped and visited a few more sites and we ventured into a small grocery where I bought some cheese that smelled exactly like a cross between ass and feet. It was horrible. We also stopped at a French bookstore and I bought a cute little French book for Alli.
We are both officially worn out. We walk between 5 and 7 miles a day around the city...and still only saw a fraction of what we wanted to see.
Went back to the hotel, ate dinner, washed some clothes in the sink and packed.
