Pushed on today to Leon. Will stay in a hotel, sight see without lugging my backpack, which will be a major treat. Today was a great day for walking. It was cool and sunny, with a clear view of the ridge of the Pyrennes to the north.
This will be my first night in a city. Leon is the last big city, I think, before Santiago. I plan to make tomorrow a shorter walk as a way to recuperate.
I just arrived in Leon, so there is a time lapse since I wrote the entry above. I took a bus from the outskirts of Leon as suggested by my guidebook. Good choice. I booked a room quickly on hotels.com seconds before I boarded the bus. It was surprisingly easy to find, and only a short walk from the bus station. I was worried that it might be a hellhole, but it's rather nice, more like a suite. It has a lovely large bathtub, which is exactly what I need. A bit of a culture shock being in a large city. I immediately found a frozen yogurt shop, so I had a tasty treat that reminded me of home. P.S. I did not lose my guidebook. When I said I left it at the hostel I was sitting in a bar (a Spanish cafe/restaurant) writing my blog.
