Kim's Travels
AARRGGHH!!! I DID A BUNGY JUMP!!! Oh my goodness it was crazy!!! Today started off a another normal day on the Oz Bus; we left Mission Beach at about 8 this morning and headed towards a crocodile farm. This place was seriously cool. The dudes were feeding them real close and we were about a metre away from them! The were really sleepy but when the guy got the chicken out they were snapping away! We got to feel one too and they feel just like they look; all hard and rubbery. We saw baby crocs, aligators, and a casawary too. Afterwards we got to hold a baby aligator and a snake (I passed on the snake) and taste some croc! It was a really weird meat; kinda like squid - very chewy! But quite nice. Then we moved onto the Millamilla falls which is where the Timotei adverts were filmed (!) it was actually a really stunning place. The whole drive today was through the rainforest and it was quite upsetting as SO much of it has been destroyed because of the cyclone in March and its really quite depressing seeing all the dead and destroyed trees everywhere. Our next stop was Lake Etchum for lunch. We sat by the lake eating our lunch and soaked up the sun and we saw little turtles too. After yet more driving through the rainforest we stopped of at AJ Hackett for the BUNGY! I was not planning on doing it AT ALL until I got there and thought "What the hell, you only live once!" I climbed the stairs (that was a mission in itself!) and got to the top. I didn't look down for ages because I knew I would freak but in the end I couldn't help my self and took a peak; ARGH! I was bloody high! 50 metres! We were waiting up there for ages, watching people jump and one person backed out and then they called my name - I wasn't actually that nervous, which was a little worrying (!) until I had to stand on the edge where the butterflies most certainly kicked in. I couldn't bear to let go of the bar let along look down but the guy went "5, 4, 3, 2, 1... BUNGY..." and I went! Just before he said "BUNGY" I didn't think I was gunna go but knew if I didn't jump then, I never would, so went for it! It is the most bizarre feeling; I honestly thought I was gunna die when I jumped but after a tiny weeny while you're like "ARGH... THIS IS AWESOME... I'M FLYING... WOOHOO..." I was shaking for ages afterwards and couldn't get the smile off my face - what a rush! I'm so pleased I did it and will definatly do it again. We've just arrived in Cairns now at a really nice hostel (Bohemia Resort). I've got to go shower and get ready to go out so until then... Adios amigos. Xxx.
