Kim's Travels
We had a super early start today for our day trip up to Cape Tribulation. We checked out of Bohemia and got picked up at 0750. Ironically the Aussie girls (Jess, Liz and Zoe who we met in Maggie) were on the bus too! The journey was quite a way (as always in Australia!) but at least the drive was quite pleasant; very scenic, along the coast. So, our first stop was a cruise down the Daintree River to see crocs and we did! We saw wild crocs which was really cool, one of them was huge and the other two were babies but they were all so still and so scary! They almost looked fake. After that we took a walk through the rainforest which was cool as. The roots of some of the trees were so funky especially the fig-tree-something-or-other (!) We saw some more edible ants (the green ones which you can lick and they taste like citrus) plus some black ants that apparently are a gorgeous scent when you squeeze them (I thought it was rank...). We stopped for lunch and to check out the beach which was pretty. After lunch we headed to the Mossman Gorge which was awesome! The rocks were huge and the water FREEZING (needless to say I didn't get in; Tom did!). On our way home we stopped at Port Douglas to walk around for a bit. Its really nice there, a little like a holiday resort. I was feeling pretty rough by that point so we grabbed our free dinner (new, very cool hostel - Global Village) and I walked up the wooden hill to Bedfodshire.
