Kim's Travels
G'day, sorry for lack of updating, as you know on Monday we went to Bondi but only for one night as the weather was so miserable and on Tuesday we headed for Coogee. Coogee is about a 20 minute bus journey from Bondi and is quite similar. Its little smaller but a nice town right on the beach with lots of surf shops, fish 'n' chip places, juice bars, etc... We stayed in Beachhouse hostel which was surprisingly FAB! It was very cheap and certainly looked it from the outside but it turned out really well. Being family-run meant it was really clean and tidy and friendly too. There weren't many people there so we practically had the place to ourselves. There was free breakfast too which is always good news. The weather actually really cheered up and we were able to wear our flip flops (yay!), but I was still in my coat (it wasn't that warm!) During the few days we were there, the boys braved the sea and went for a swim while me and Izz read our books on the beach, we did lots of beach walks etc... and on top of some of the rocks we discovered an almost-shrine to the Virgin Mary - apparently about 20 people have claimed to see a figure of her there aswell as actually in person. There were lots of newspaper cuttings, prayers, pictues, rosary bead, stories of miracles and Holy Water. It was kinda spooky but very interesting. The boys had the best fish 'n' chips they've had so far (from 'A Fish Called Coogee) and we generally had a good few days just chilling out. On Tuesday night we all cooked dinner and played board games together and of course watched the ledgendary Home & Away and Neighbours. On Wednesday night we all went to the Palace Hotel Bar which was really good. It was an R n' B and Hip Hop night with free drinks if you threw the basketball in the net (oh yeah, I did!). Today (Friday) we left Coogee to spend the day in Bondi as the weather was meant to be good and we really wanted to see in it the sunshine but of course the weather was crap and we never saw Bondi in the sun! Nevertheless Izzy and I got our 'must have' Bondi hoodies and we had a good days shopping and a nice lunch in a very cool retro cafe to say goodbye to Izzy and Harry. Tom and I are back in the city now, staying at Base because we're getting picked up at 0620 tomorrow morning by the Oz Bus ready to start our trip up the coast. So for now, adios... Xxx
