Finally going to Fraser Island today, yay! We were looking forward to it for ages. We had our meeting early in the morning and were split into our groups of 10 - we had a really cool group and we all got on really well, so we knew we were going to have a good time. Our 4 x 4 truck had a broken hand break and wing mirror - good start! But hey things could only get better, and they did! The first day we were driving across the island through the forests to get to Lake Wobby - a fresh water lake surrounded by sand dunes. We finally made it after a few wrong turns and well earned toilet breaks! It was really nice. We made our way back to a camp site after and set up our tents ready for our bbq. Had such a good night with our group, the stars were so pretty - we could see the milky way (we think!)
Day 2 we drove up the beach to a creek then to Indian Head - a very high look out point with a shear drop off of a cliff edge, scary stuff! Then off to champagne pools for some chill out time. We've never seen ocean views like it! Checked out Maheno shipwreck on the way back to camp. Tonight we moved up the beach to a bigger campsite with 3 other trucks from our hostel - a massive party on the beach, so much fun! Everyone got up at 7 the next morning, feeling pretty rough, but eggy bread soon sorted us out! All four trucks spent the last day at Lake Mc Kenzie catching some rays! An awesome lake, white sands and clear blue waters. The ferry took us back to Hervey Bay later on that day and that was about it really! It was by far the best trip we've done so far, well worth it!
