I stayed two nights in this lovely little town of Modena with Valerie, an American girl who has been living in Italy for three years. It was really interesting to hear her story about coming to move to a different country and the differences and likes of living in Italy from that of the United States. Modena, is the home of Maserati and Ferrari so we walked to see Maserati, but Ferrari was too far out of town so we missed that one. The city I think has more high end retail stores then Paris, Milan, or London. It was amazing to see this little town with all these luxury goods. Modena, was a great city and glad I went there I am really starting to like these small towns.
Yesterday, I left another small town Casina, where I had a great host Christian crazy guy he drove to Germany to meet up with a girl like in a movie. The city was great another small town gem, I really a going to start looking for the small towns from now on.
I also went to the Cinque Terre as well, very beautiful area, but designed to milk tourists, most of the tourists are Americans. I always find it funny listening to the American tourists on my travels, it is really interesting how we react in foreign countries. I was walking behind some American girls, and all they were talking about was shopping in Milan and designer shoes with two other American girls they just met on the hike. I thought ooo boy I am in no way in a rush to get back to that.
I am in Bologna now and will be here until the 15th with this really funny host Dilleta then either Verona or a suburb of Bologna, with an amazing host. This girl had traveled around Asian by asking people to stay with them… I really wanna know how she did that, because when I get to Asia I would love to travel in the rural areas away from the big cities.
Ok that's all I got for now.
Ciao
