This morning we started our drive to Algonquin Provincial Park. We got to our campsite at around 14.00 and got our tents set up for the next two nights. After lunch 8 of us decided to rent canoes and set off down the river looking for a waterfall that the campsite owners had told us about. We paddled for about 50 minutes before we found it. It was beautiful, very quite and isolated, the only way it could be reached was by water. Several of the trees around there had changed colours too so was very picturesque.
We all got out to have a look around and climbed to the top of the bank so we could look down over the waterfall. Mark got too close and fell in, luckily Jo managed to get a picture of it happening!
We set off back for camp which was a lot quicker this time as we knew where we were going. Three pairs of us made it back but we were still waiting for Mark and Jo who had been a bit behind us. We pulled our canoes in and returned our paddles and life jackets and there was still no sign of the others. It was starting to get dark now and there are no lights out here so when it goes dark it goes very dark, very fast so we thought we'd better go look for them. Brendan and Bobby decided they would be the rescue team so got a canoe back out, got in the water and promptly capsized, unfortunately we didn't get a picture of this! Mark and Jo were found fairly quickly, it turned out they'd missed the turn off for our campsite and headed off downriver, they realised soon enough though and made it back before we had to send the powerboat out.
