I like to think that today was a bit less adventurous but who knows anymore. We woke up a bit earlier in order to get to the Louvre and leave at a certain time. Louise and Lynette headed out a different way while Kels and I went to my parents' hotel. We had to check out and actually got a cheaper price than we thought because we weren't given the promised room. It wasn't a lot, but we all agreed that's how you run a business. We go towards our favorite bakery but it was closed! Sad day!! We start going to the Metro and find another one. Crisis averted. We get on the metro together and Kels and I got off to transfer and said goodbye to the others. So we carry/roll their luggage to the hotel my parents are in. From there, my parents, Kels, and I go to the Louvre. The line was pretty long but it consistently moved so it wasn't a terribly long wait. We bought our tickets without problem and started to walk around. We saw the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and other famous works of art. There was even one that looked just like one I saw in Italy last Jan Term. Turns out it was the same guy. Dude painted the same scene but with different people. Strange. We accidently met up with Louise and Lynette on the street but they continued to shop as the rest of us searched for food. Now, I love my dad dearly, but directions aren't his strong point. He missed the street he wanted to turn on and we went way far out of the way. So Subway for lunch because it was easy. I got a coke as well because I needed caffeine to keep me going.
We made our way back to the hotel where Lynette and Louise were ready! We talked for a bit then went to the metro for the last time. We really mastered that thing. We got to the train station and made our way to the eurostar platform. We had to fill out landing cards and get our passports stamped twice. Legit. Then came the waiting. We had 10 minutes until boarding so we stood up and then came the announcement that there was a delay because of an individual at some other station. Cool, thanks buddy. We were supposed to leave at 5:13 but probably left around 5:45. Well we pulled into King's Cross around 7:10. A bit late, but no big deal. We went to buy metro tickets from the machine but of course it eats all of our money. I wouldn't have minded but it was 15 pounds. So we call for assistance and about 7:30 someone sorts it out for us and we get the tickets. The underground usual flies but apparently the train in front of us was running behind schedule so we had to stop between every stop. We finally reach London Victoria. Then the running begins. As if walking with all this stuff wasn't enough, we had to run. So we make it to our gate for the bus with 4 minutes to spare. There was a huge line so we ask if this is for the bus to Cheltenham and they said yes. And then it happens. Our bus pulls away. We watched it leave. Awesome. Panic sets in and we ask the Megabus people and they can't help us. So we have to walk to the National Express ticket office. We missed the bus at 8 and the next one isn't until 11:30 and we would get back to Chelts at 2:30 in the morning. At this point, all you can do is laugh and just go with it. So we ended up sitting and doing a whole bunch of nothing for hours on end. My iPod died and it was freezing. But seriously, I believe there were too many things stopping us from getting on that bus. Everything happens for a reason right?
