We all woke up around the same time and I won't name names but someone's snoring woke us all. We left a bit later than planned, but nothing was hurt. Of course we stopped at the bakery where we all got a baguette and some form of chocolate. We headed to meet my parents at the arch de triumph. We got there a bit later than planned, but no harm done. I should probably mention that it was cold and rainy but that should go without being said. We challenged the weather and went to the top of the arch. Talk about cold and windy. While taking pictures, I noticed this is where people bug me. They walk right in the way of pictures. How are you that unaware of your surroundings? Well, we made our way back down. Then, for some reason I still don't understand, we walked for an hour and a half to get to this mall called Galleries Lafayette. Did I mention it was cold and rainy? Okay, just checking. Awesome. We walked around inside for a bit and then got some food. We didn't do too much there and that trip was rather pointless but it killed time. We jumped on the metro and made our way to the Eiffel Tower. As soon as you get above ground, the tower comes into view. It really was shocking to see. We took entirely too many pictures of practically the same view (sound familiar Stonehenge?). But better too many than too few I guess!
We decided it would be a waste in Paris to not go up so we declined the stairs because it was over 1000 steps and no one wanted to bite it in the rain. We stood in line for some time, but it wasn't terrible. As we were waiting, with roughly 100 people behind us, these two girls pushed pass us and stop right in front. Their father is out of the line but comes and hands them money and leaves. The couple in front of them kept stopping them from getting in front of them. I was pretty angry so I kept saying things like "I'm happy my parents didn't let me do things like that." and basically saying I can't believe some people think it's okay to do that. Soon, Lynette makes her way around these girls and then Louise and I see our chance and we take it. A few minutes later I grab Kels and my mom and the girls said something to which I responded with well, you did cut all these people. My dad tells the group of three girls that were behind us to cut them as well and follow him. They all do. Eventually, the couple behind them got in front as well. A minor victory, but we won. The elevator up was a smooth ride and it went pretty fast, Instead of hanging out at that level, we went right up to the top. There's an in closed place and then an outdoor, caged area above. It was freezing but worth it. It's amazing to be able to see the entire city. Although we got up there when it was still daytime, the sun finally decided to come out as it was setting and we got some decent pictures of that. As we were attempting to go down from the second level, the light show started. It only lasts 5 minutes every hour.
Once we got down, we took 8000 more pictures and then looked for somewhere warm to eat until the next lightshow at 10. We found this cute café that had an awesome view once you stepped outside. We all ordered crepes that were outstanding. My dad went to check and as the lightshow came on we all ran out there. I took a video, naturally. After that, we took the metro and said goodbye to my parents at their stop and continued to ours. As we were transferring lines, not only did we see three sleeping hobos, but a rat ran across the landing for the stairs that we were walking down. Kels and Lyn didn't like that too much. We survived, got to our hotel and crashed for the night.
