It was a 3 hour flight to Fiji and to my surprise I was on a massive plane. It was a 3/4/3 seat formation - eh??? to fiji? Very bizzare, I thought it would have been a small plane! I managed to watch a good movie and get tucked in to some nice food too!
We were all greeted at the airport with a traditional Fijian song - how lovely. I was then supposed to be getting my transfer to the hostel but it didn't show!! I wasn't too bothered as I only had an hour to wait for Marisa's flight to arrive anyway. I sat and chatted to a gay Fijian guy, he was so funny and before I knew it, Marisa's flight had arrived. It was great to see her and we could not stop chatting!!!!!!!
Thankfully our transfer turned up and we were taken to our hostel. Fiji looked like a very poor and dirty place to be - nothing like we had imagined. The drivers were mental and just drove anywhere nd everywhere - it was a little scary.
Our hostel was lovely. The staff were all so friendly and they gave us a personal tour of the hostel and took us to our room. The hostel had 2 pools, a beauty salon, a theatre room, internet cafe, shop, 3 bars and 2 restaurants - as nothing like a hostel!
We dumped our stuff and then had a waunder to the supermarket for some water. Every two seconds people were stopping in their cars and asking us if we needed a taxi! Very strange!!! The supermarket was dead cheap - 30p for a litre of water!
After a quick shower we went down to the hostel restaurant for tea. We had two massive meals, two bottles of wine and two cocktails each - all for £30, bargain! We were then entertained for the evening by a singer/guitarist. He was amazing! He sang loads of songs - Eric Clapton, One Republic, Eagles - lots of good sing along songs.
The next day it was an early start to catch our transfer to the Marina. We had booked a 6 day cruise to the 'Yasawa Islands' and were so excited! The Marina was absolutely stunning! There was a beautiful golf course, massive mansions and it just looked so different from the fiji we arrived in yesterday. We did a little shopping at the Marina for postcards and the staff all rushed to help us. They took our bags from us so that it was easier for us to walk around the shop and they were so interested to find out where we were from and where we were going.
It was then time for us to board our Catamaran and enjoy the four hour journey up the 'Yasawa Islands' to the first island we were staying on..................................
